Hello, I have a 97 grand prix gt that has a bad ac compressor. I purchased a new compressor for the car, but on the box it says must add oil. so what I need to know is what is the oil and how much does it need.. The guy that I am going to have charge it for me does refrigeration for dairy farms and what not. He does have a oil, but I wanted to make sure it is the same stuff, and I have no idea how much to put in it.. so I figured no better place to come than here, because you guys always help me out. thank you so much !!

It is called PAG Oil #12345923 (old part number). The system needs 8 oz after a full evacuation. I am quite sure you can use the stuff available at the auto parts stores as long as it is for R134a systems.

More info on PAG oils.
Double End Capped (DEC) PAG and Mineral Oils
PAG - 46 (Low Viscosity) Polyalkylene glycol developed for use in automotive systems using a low viscosity PAG in the presence of R-134A. Not for use in General Motors compressors.
PAG - 100 (Medium Viscosity) Polyalkylene glycol developed for use as a universal pag for auto systems using R-134A. This pag is compatible with most other pags available on the market.
PAG - 125 (GM Approved) Specially formulated Polyakylene Glycol that is General Motors approved as an after market service lubricant for Harrison Thermal System compressors.
PAG-150 (High Viscosity) Polyalkylene glycol developed for use in automotive compressors requiring a high viscosity polyalkylene glycol lubricant when HFC-134A is used. Specifically developed for use in General Motors compressors.
