Why do you play this song??

I love music... a lot. There are many different reasons why i listen to what I do. I want to know about a song that you particularily like at this moment, even if its not your favorite, or from your favorite artist, or even a genre you like, BUT, it still means something to you.
for example: right now i'm really appreciating

Sublime - What I Got

This song will always, always get me in a good mood, reminding me of a better place, an easier way of life, a care-free state of mind.

easy enough? I mean, it could be anything for whatever reason, like "i'm really just digging the beat right now"
PS, i'd like for this thread to stay as whore-free as possible, please don't turn it into the Song Title Game

I think I differ from a lot of people because most people listen to a certain type of music to get them in the right mood. Like listening to something upbeat to get pumped up for a game or something.
But my mood dictates what I want to listen to. If I'm cruising in the car, I like something a little heavier and a little louder. But if I'm sitting at home thinking about life, I like something softer, maybe a little slower. IT just depends for me. The one band I can always listen to though, is Fall Out Boy.

same here, it depends on what i'm doing and what i'm in the mood for. when i'm on my computer i like to listen to something a little softer and maybe a little slower. if im going to the gym or am going to the gym soon i like something heavy and fast, so some pumping rap or some metal, not so much rap anymore, i kinda stopped listening to it. after the gym i like to listen to something that i like to chill to.

right now though i'm enjoying The Fray for some reason, probably because they sing about girls and that's something that's impacting my life kind of heavily at the moment. But i also just got into system of a down, i think it's a mix of the need for a pump up sometimes to go to the gym, all the wars i've become aware of (i didn't really listen to the news before), and the fact that i'm deciding wether or not i'm going into the military. they have alot of political subjects in their songs and it's appealing to me.

i also got into jack johnson recently because i find it easy to chill to and i've been doing alot of that lately, just chillin alone and thinking. it's something that gives me some downtime since i've been really busy this summer and for the last 3 months of school so it helps me distance myself from everything around me and just focus on myself.

on a side note, writting this has given me a new perspective on my life, i'm going to go in my dark corner and think about that

well right NOW I'm really liking red hot chili peppers, no real reason why, it's what started playing and i got the urge to listen to every song that I have of them (I think it's 2 or 3 albums), any song in particular? I'd have to say "snow", "tear", and "dosed" are all ones that i'm liking at this particular moment.

as for that jack song, i really liked that one for a while but then heard it too much, now i still like it but not quite as much.

The Commodores and Lionel Richie - Easy. fuckin' great song. it's just a real mellow song, i especially love it when i'm drunk. Faith No More redid the song but the original is where it's at.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - My Friends

"confide, cuz i'll be on your side;
you know i will, you know i will..."

I have great appreciation for those lyrics right there, something i hold to my closest friends. when they find themselves in trouble, doubt, and fear, i'll be there. thats who i am.

Right now, it'd be Iron Maidens "Killers"

Man, i dunno what it is, but the beat of that song, with the cool riffs, and the sick bassline, along with bruce dickinsons wailing at the beginning. I dunno, i just love hearing it, and rock out like crazy everytiem i hear it. Even at work, i'll drop what im doing and just rock out.

Falling Up--the entire 'crashings' album.

They're a christian band but I love the way they sound and the lyrics just put me in a good mood .

i was kinda aiming for 1 song at a time, but w/e, i guess i could care less...

Tool - Right in Two

It's very mellow and artsy aside from some sick heavy riffs in the middle, and the lyrics just seem too appropriate for today's world. sounds very religious, but very true, none the less.

Almost forgot to put my song down.

I am really liking the new (well not so new anymore) Stone Sour - Through Glass. Every time I hear it I just think of looking at my like through anothers eyes and realize it could be much worse - or much better depending on whos looking.

Another song I really like is - 10 years "Waking up" ,

I mainly listen to ALOT heavier stuff but those 2 songs can always calm me down a let me reflect.

Nop it's "Leeches", and I do believe the lyrics are

"How does it feel to be a lie", rather than "How does it feel to be alive".

U2 - Where the Streets Have No Name

been playing that and a lot of other old U2 like Sunday, Bloody Sunday. thing is, i don't listen to them much, but reason i find them so good is that they sing with cause, and they play songs about things you don't hear much anymore.

Linkin Park albums:Pretty much any of them I can listen to in any mood cause I love them so much and now I'm getting into Mike Shinoda from LP with his new project Fort Minor. Fort Minor has some awesome sound, I know most of it is rap related but it's not the normal garbage rap that we are all use to hearing in the headphones of little ones.

Tool - Right in Two

very intraspective into human nature. such a melodic and interesting song, its enthralling, as is most of their less mainstream musical scores.

I play this song just for fun sometimes, its so strange and funny. Clerks is awsome, too. the "Jedi vs. Empire" movie argument in the begining of the song is great!

Incubus - Aqueous Transmission

this song is so peaceful and serene. though i appreciate it, i don't really like the traditional type songs from a japanese koto (the instrument being played through the song), but the way it is played in this is so beautiful. It really portrays a spiritual, peaceful place in my mind.

I usually listen to music that reminds me of past and current issues, these songs are usually about family and society, relationships and heartache, that sort of thing. I like the artists take and views on the topic and how he translates his frustrations and hate into words……… I usually listen to Nirvana, Tupac, Staind and Eminem while training or driving…………………………………..

In Flames - Metaphor

"Let me in I'll bury the pain"

kinda drives out negitive thoughts in you by making you realise you're better than the pieces of shit that make you feel bad.

Love - Musiq Soulchild

I've loved this song since I was 12, and it's the only song that's made me feel the same every single time I've heard it. I can go months without listening to it, but it's still just as powerful. Probably my all-time favorite song.
