It saves on your syncros and tranny. I dont think its got anything to do with engine life and I would imagine its harder on the cluch because its enguaged and disenguaged twice as much. However, I cant imagine double clutching would hurt the clutch.

someone also told me its easier for the clutch because it gives the RPMs a few more miliseconds to come down...???

I'm assuming you'd be doing that pretty quickly right? lol Damn, that seems pretty difficult, but then again I've only driven autos so I'm also assuming it takes time and getting used to.

dude thats not what real double clutching is at all. Double clutching is what you do when you have to down shift. What you do is take it out of gear let go of the clutch then rev to the right rpm then clutch in and put it in gear. IF you manage to do it right there will be NO damage done to your clutch or tranny at all. You do that to get in power band without damaging your tranny and clutch. Cause some retards just shove it into a lower gear putting MAYOR stress on your clutch and tranny. Now if you talking about ricer double clutching its easy when you launch and shift to second gear all you do is press the clutch in again while still florring it so it gets like a second jump when you shift to second gear.

k we dont have to start a fight. double clutching is used to save you SYNCHROS not your tranny or your clutch, although it does take some of the stress off the tranny. it is done, like this (and is not hard to do if you drive a 5 speed, just try it for 1 day, and you will b doin it the rest of your life (i double clutch everytime i shift)
3rd gear
clutch in
shift to N
clutch out
tap accelerator (till your at the expected RPMs of the next gear)
clutch in
shift to 2nd gear
clutch out
3rd gear
clutch in
shift to N
clutch out
tap accelerator (till your at the expected RPMs of the next gear)
clutch in
shift to 2nd gear
clutch out

and KustmAce said those instructions (if you read correctly...which u didnt) were for upshifting, which is correct, you only need to match the RPMS when your downshifting...:nono:

The way I look at it I don't care 'bout the clutch, tranny, sycronyro what evers, engine life, fuel mileage. I just drive 'em like they don't belong to me because most of the time the don't and I only care about one thing and that's my left leg and foot and the less it has to push that clutch the better it is for me.

actually if you want to properly upshift you have to let the rpms drop but once again you have to put it in gear when it drops to the certain rpm. example if you push in the clutch and take it out of gear and wait too long you mite have to rev again just for it to go high enough to match the rpms noob

who takes it out of gear, puts it in neutral, and sits there....? instead of clutch gear gas...you double clutch and let the RPMS come down a little more, but were doing instructions for double clutching, "what if" scenarios....but yes, if you left it out of gear and let the RPMS fall to 1000 then you would have to tap the accelerator "NOOB" :twak:

Hey now, no fighting. But yeah, I havent started or even attempted to double clutch. Maybe when I get a new tranny like stage 2 or 3, but untill then, i'll stick with my clutch in, shift, clutch out method. Seems to be workin pretty good so far. =D
