can i fit an evo engine in my eclipse

i own a 1998 mitsubishi eclipse gs, and i was wondering if any one cou tell me if i would be able to fit an evo 4g63 turbo enguin in my engune bay?

Search n00b! If you have to ask, the answer is no. Someone with enough know how and money to do so wouldnt need to ask anyone.

There is a thread about this on tuners I believe. It might be easier to fit than the eclipse turbo engine but evo motors are expensive.

I have a simpler solution...

Yeah, I dont know. The Evo's are 7 bolts though.

Yeah all the evo's have 7 bolts....I dont think mitsubishi ever even came out and said what caused it.....probably because they dont know...

the evo engine is 180 degress the wrong way.

In a nt eclipse the engine sits on the opposite side compared to the turbo so an evo motor would fit easier.

Its not going to happen. Think that 420a tranny is going to bolt up? Nope, neither will a FWD GST tranny. So that means you have to put in the Evo tranny, also a shit ton of money, so then you either get to ghetto the tranny/t case to be FWD or make it AWD (also an load of money). Then what if the drive axles dont line up just right like they most likely wont. This swap is next to impossible for the common DIYer.

Those front bumpers look weird.

the top one is a evo showing you the evo motor the bottom one is suposidly a eclipse but the bumper dont look right

those are definitely both 2g eclipses with the bumpers customized. Whether the engine is photochopped in or not I can't tell.

wow now that i took a closer look you can tell the top one is a 2g at first glance it looks like a evo

I dont know if I like how the bumper is cut on the blue eclipse, but it sure does look different.

If he could have set the grill back in a few inches it would have looked beautiful... I'm glad you posted these too. I had just given up searching on dsmtalk for them. lol

Speakin of grill. Why in the flying fuck did Nelly have to make that fucking song?! I had some ugly broke ass indian guy in McDonalds the other day with 1/2" diameter "diamonds" hanging off of his ears and some silver painted plastic "grillz" with equally fake looking plastic "diamonds" all the way down. All I could do is chuckle.

Thats exactly what I was thinking... And if you doubled that with an invader hood it would suck all the hot air right off the turbo and out the hood vent... It would be a very nice little system there.

Why the hell did the guy with the blue 2g not get the engine bay painted...he spent thousands on an EVO swap and then didn't spring for the couple hundred extra it would have been to get the bay painted. Gay.

I think the blue one looks stupid, it reminds me of a pontiac GTP and i don't like that.

I started a thread about doing this back in like January because my car started on fire and I needed to replace everything under the hood anyways, but I found a car that I could take the motor and everything I needed out of it for $1000 so I gave up on the Evo swap project. None the less, it wouldn't be "too" tough IMO because the main mounts are almost identical so the rest would just be piddily shit, but then again I consider myself to have somewhat quite advanced mechanical skills for my age and only taking a HS Automotive class and working on the farm. Oh well, it was worth a thought.
