its safe to clean Intercooler using vfaq method ?

Im thinking clean the intercooler tomorrow, I read vfaq and they using gasoline, is this safe ? what other product that you can use to clean it ? thanks

Its never really that great to use gas to clean parts usually. But Im not sure on what to clean it with, maybe rubbing alcohol but thats just a guess.

Are you trying to clean it for flow or get stains off of it. You probably could use compressed air to get the trash out of the fins. Gas would work if you are trying to make it shine somewhat

Hes talking about getting the oil and shit out of there. Gas would work, it is solvent. I would personally get some heavy duty degreaser and soak that shit, then just run a hose through it for a few minutes. Then, I would hook up a hair dryer or something up to one end and let the heat blow through there for a hour or two. I can see why they want you to use gas though, if theres any left over in there it wont hurt anything if you burn it.

I haven take my intercooler out yet, I dint know any oil is in there, I just want to clean because I dint knew, when the last time, this had been clean.

It's not something that needs to be done like an oil change or something, and you're probably not pushing enough power to make a difference anyways. I bet half of the people on here have never even thought of cleaning their intercoolers, but to each his own.
