New Tire Question

Hi guys. I am looking to replace the tires on my 97 Bravada. When I bought it used it had 235/ 70r-15 on it. They are fine but looked too small for the wheel wells. I notice even 235/75r-15 looked to fill the wheel wells better and looked better as well. My buddy has a Mitsubishi Montero and it runs 265/70-r15 and these tires look much bigger than mine and fully fill out the wheel wells too, which looks better on an suv in my opinion.

My question is can I run the 265's on my Bravada, and if so will it hurt my fuel economy significantly? Thanks for any info as it is greatly appreciated.

you can put 265s on yer truck . as 4 mpg, bigger tire =more weight, more rotation ,poss 1-3 mpg diff

I run P235/75r15.

Run fine. Just remember when your speedometer says 60mph, you will be going 63mph in real life.

Don't go to a 265 or you will more than likely kill your economy a bit do to more surface contact with the road.

Rolling resistance is never a help.

30x9.5r15 is all you need for the bravada.

265/70 15 will fit just fine. I've had several sets of BF Goodrich Long Trail T/A 265/70 15 on my 98 Blazer. They are a little too wide for the rims, so the side walls bulge a little. The last time that I bought tires, I got BF Goodrich Long Trail T/A 235/75 15. They are only 3/4" shorter than the 265/70, and the set was $100 cheaper. There was no difference in fuel economy between the two sizes.

The 235 75s are OEM on some blazers with specific suspension packages...GM will tell you depending on the shocks your truck was equipped with 70's will produce a smoother ride....I had the premium ride package and mine came with 70's Michelin LTX and deCarbon shocks. Long since gone.

Those Long trail are great tires...I had 70K miles on the Michelins with 3 rim leaks....the BFs lasted 110K miles...no flats before a belt started bulging.
