Front wheel bearing problem

Does anyone out here ever had to change the front wheel bearing? Mine is vibrating like hell and makes lots of noise in the cabin (although I can't hear it from outside). I rose the car and put it on jack stands and then started and put it in gear and goty it up to 40 mph, no noise, but when driving it makes a loud buzzing noice that gets lighter when I turn right.

Any ideas?

Oh by the way, the car in question is a 95 Golf III City with about 138,000 miles on the odo.

sounds like a wheel bearing - if it's anything like an earlier golf or jetta you have to remove the steering knuckle and press out the hub, then the bearing. kind of a tricky job if you've never done one - and you need a press - and press tools!
