Just some renderings I've been working on in the past little while. Let me know your thoughts
widebody s2K, done in marker and Prismacolor pencils with gouache highlights
http://img47.imageshack.us/img47/9339/hondas2000vy8.jpg
The early stages:
1st sketch
http://img47.imageshack.us/img47/8523/s2kroughzx3.jpg
after a transfer: - makes a big difference!
http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/3690/s2kfinallinevd9.jpg
Finally got around to doing a concept! A little 2 door roadster. Sorry about the angled seat drawing... the headrest is huge and I can't erase the red pencil :P
http://img47.imageshack.us/img47/423/conceptij7.jpg
A skull - about 90% airbrush and 10% prismacolor pencil (especially for the teeth). There was actually no color used although it looks that way... just white and black.
http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/1884/airbrushskull0001vx1.jpg
Played around w/ the contrast... alot and thought it looked kinda cool:

Thanks for looking

awesome rendering on that s2000, on your concept try to make it more dynamic then realistic, if you know what im talking about, perspective also plays a big role, top stuff !

There's a Skyline? ... D:? I see an S2000 in colour, and then an S2000 rough and transfer, than a 2 door coupe concept, then an airbrushed skull, then a photoshop/brushed skull D: I'm missing some elaboret joke, aren't I? D:
Anyway, nice stuff as always SBA, is the S2k freehand?

no, his previous post was an out-of-perspective skyline. nice job on this one!

Nice work.
It's great to see you developing differing technics and design layouts.
(The concept layout has nice detailing.)

Well, see, that'd be why re-reading is good... instead of "improvements to..." it should have been "from" or "COMPARED to" ...
Grammer is good. Anyway, good stuff Alex.

Thanks everybody, I appreciate the replies.
Sketches of B: that's really odd... I'll re-upload some of them tomorrow but I don't have time right now.
AMV: I know what you're getting at. Thanks for pointing that out. It's all about contrast and perspective
HONU: yup, everything is freehand
Dave: I've been meaning to join, thanks for reminding me!

So because someone wasn't born in North America, or the UK, means that they can't re-read a sentance? If that's true, then what's the punishment for re-reading something in Japan, I wonder?
Anyway, sorry for kinda-sorta hijacking your thread SBA.
That's really good for freehand, did you use elipses for the wheels?

HONU: don't worry about it.. I'm getting a good grammar lesson out of it, lol . Ellipse tools? nope, just a matter of spending a little extra time to get them as best as I can.
69charger: Thanks buddy. Keep working at those prismacolors, you'll get the hang of them.

Haha, learning is fun! :p
On a different note:
Really? The transfer makes it look like they were definently done by an elipse tool. I envy you.

hello, alex.
fix the rear spokes on the S2000, red car. they're not equidistant. and tyre looks somewhat squatty.
otherwise, great concept stuff. :smokin:

Alex, did you go to a art school to learn how to use colored pencils so good, or have you just taught yourself over time?

lemorris, wtf are you talking about? lol :p
Bonz: good eye with the spokes, thanks! What exactly do you mean by squatty? Can't really be fixed though once it's been fully rendered, but I'll use it for future reference
Charger: no formal training. Everything I know about art I've learned from personal experimentation and a few tips from junior high and grade 10 art class.

I told everyone on here that your work would get better and better.
They tried to have a "Clobber Alex" party on your Skyline but I knew you learned a lot on that piece, I could see it in your strokes. This piece proves that point...so....WHAT!
Bring it!
You kick butt dude and your last 2 posts should put to rest any of that "Alex doesn't draw good without the grid method so he's a cheater" talk. Alex like countless other artists through time learned by imitation. By learning to draw what he saw he has stepped up his game.
Alex CAN draw. Alex DRAWS very well.

oh Alex
if you think 1 transfer makes a difference..try 2 or if there's an area that's givin you fits like the tires for example. Try a transfer of just the tires. You can piece it all back together on your final.
I'm a transfer-holic

yeah, i have a question about the transfer. how on earth dow you transfer that? do you use thin paper or something? i can hold my paper against the light, but i still can see what's on the other side. :banghead:

transfer paper
you can get it at most art stores or online at places like dick blick.
It's pretty cheap and can be used over and over. Comes in 2 foot by 3 foot sheets so large stuff is a non-issue.
Comes in black or white for transfer onto colored papers.

lololol, I do graphite transfers... the ghetto way :p
Lemmons: thanks for that, I appreciate the words. How would I do a transfer of just the tires? wouldnt that involve redrawing the entire car?
Alex: sharp stick? come on now, only blunt objects allowed :)

alex your freehand is excellent in my books ,i dont mind that you use a grid look at the end results, either method to me is still drawing ,lots of time and effort can be saved with the grid i have no probs with it but as youve proved you can freehand aswell well done bro,my early stuff when i was your age was out of proportion ,i kept it all just to see how much ive improved and look at it from time to time
