last night i was out driving around and i pull up next to a stop light next to my friend in a civic ex (127hp 107tq stock manual) and i dont know if he wanted to race cuz thats where cops hang out. we have never had the chance to race eachother before but i always thought id win(190hp 225tq stock automatic). so as he floors it i do a second later. we speed through first gear him about a half or car ahead as we shift into second i slowly catch up.while shifting into third i am equal to his car.about halfway through third im about a wheel ahead and we need to stop cuz i needed to turn right. he had a cool air intake and a new set of pullyes and i had a cool air intake and a dual exaust. i also had 3 other people in the car while he was alone. why was it so close? was the fact that his car was manual have anything to do with it?..im still in shock

Manual does help. Plus his car weighs less.

the 3 other bodies had to hurt a lot,, i can feel my car's slower even with just one extra person, granted i have a few fat friends . on average 100 lbs. of extra weight will slow your car down by .1 in a 1/4 mile,, so if your friends weighed 160 lbs on average then your car could've been a half second slower (which is a lot).

and v6 mustangs were never known for beating civics by all that much

I have 124hp 124tq on my saturn and i havent lost to any v6 stang. They aren't exactly Bugatti Veyron's. Plus you have an auto, which hurts you.

meeh. v6 stangs arent quick anymore. expesially if ur v6, the auto tranny kills ya. 3 people in cars with auto dont help much. if u were just u in the car, u wouldnt put buses on him, but he'd keep up.

stuff like thats never happend to me before ive raced a honda s2000 on the highway last weekend and whiped his ass and ive raced a prelude on the highway and won and bmw z4 off the light and won. ive always been content with my speed until that happend..should i swap it for a v6 manual? do u think it would make that much of a difference?

i would just save up for a v8 if you're gonna stay in the stang family,, and also i have a hard time beleiving a v6 auto mustang with just exhuast/cai can beat an s2000, highway or dig...

I could see if the Prelude was a late 80s early 90s model. However, an S2000 and a Z4, that is some pretty lofty bullshit there.
I don't buy that. :bs:

polygon what are you talking about. bs....no way:rofl:
I belive that he could have won against a z4...only...if it bog of the line
...missed second...tried to hit third; but got fifth. got scared short shifted to forth....then....maybe then...could he win against a z4. the rest is some straight up bull.
Buddy you wouldnt even know what to do with a s2000; let alone whip its ass.
A s2000 would punk you so hard you would think your british.:icon16:
Should you get a v6 manual....yeah...u could...but.. let me tell you you would get better results by geting.....stickers,neons,eur....nah thats soo played out
a v6 stang is slow... and always will be. if you dont know why u lost then you have alot to learn

Why you almost lost to a civic
A) auto tranny robs alot of what little power you have
B) 3 friends in the car, as black TA said, that weight can knock a half second or more off your 1/4
C) dual exhaust. You didn't need it, and it most likely didn't add hp, what it definantly did was add more weight, which as we know, doesn't help.
Why you beat an s2000
A) he stalled
B) he wasn't racing
C) he was parked in a lot next to the road
take your pick.

im sorry i dint tell my bullshit in more detail. and i do know my mustang is very very slow and im in the process of changing that. but with the z4 it was in broad daylight and after we hit 80 from 0 he pulled off. so since he pulled off he forfited meaning i won.the prelude was a late 90's and we started racing at 70 and when we got up to around 110 he pulled off. and as for the s2000 that was sitting in a parking lot he flew on the onramp doing about 80 cut infront of me in the far left lane i drove up to his side and i floored it and so did he and at 120 a little before i redlined he pulled off. now i realize if anyone of these people had the guts to take thier cars to the limit i would have lost every one. but they dint and they slowed down so out of luck i claim those as a win for me. lucky but still a win

The only reason I see you beating the S2000 is you got him while he was in his highest gear and lowest rpms and didn't shift out of it.
The civic race could have gone either way really. I took my friend civic easily, but then again, he also missed third while I was still taking 2nd up to ~70. Yay for auto & gearing.

i just have to add my :2cents: here, about nothing in particular....
the autos in v6 mustangs rob power like you wouldnt believe, the 5 speed is way faster. get a 99+ with a 5 speed and its a mid to high 15sec car.
secondly, despite what some of you have said... a civic ex of any year has absolutley no chance of beating a 99+ mustang. period. most of you have experience with v6 mustangs you talk about beating when it was a 145hp automatic from 95. its not the same car. and oh yeah, new flash, a BMW Z4 with a 2.5l engine is not fast.
now that thats cleared up. buddy if a guy pulls off and he is ahead of you, you lost! you didnt win. you are not in a sanctioned racing event on the highway, what matters is who is ahead. so no you didnt kill an s2000. what you need to do is get some 4.10 gears and a zex wet shot and a detroit tru track. then your car will be a lot quicker.

no one said s2000's or z4's were fast, it's just that a v6 auto mustang is a lot less fast.

Yeah, I once beat a F-355 in my GTC. Granted he was exiting the freeway, but I have the video to prove it!
I still don't believe that there is any way you beat a Z4 or an S2000 and even the Prelude is shady, depending on the year and model.
