how to hook up stereo

i have a 1991 chevy s-10 and the stereo has been cut out. i need to know how to hook up my after market pioneer stereo and what wire colors are what. i know most but need to know for yellow and red. cannot locate power wire. :banghead:

Are you trying to figure out the colors on your truck's wiring harness, or what color on your truck connects to what color on your deck?

I can tell you if it is anything like my 87 S10, you're in for a real treat as I think I have one of the most difficult wire jobs in the world (I can tell you it's not stock, and if it is, someone butchered it!) I'm actually going to be putting a Pioneer DEH-2800MP deck in my truck this weekend, so I might be able to help you out a little more then, but if you just need to know what the yellow and red wires are, red is your power wire, yellow is your constant that connects to the battery to maintain your deck settings (i.e. audio settings, programmed stations, etc...).

I would start by following any wires that come off the battery, and see if anything matches inside the cab.

At this point, that's about all I can help you with...

87 and 91 wiring harnesses are different, I found this out when i put my head unit in my 87. If you can post up a pic of the wires I might be able to help you.

Whats to find out?

in my 83, I just ran a yellow wire from the main power to the fuses (constant) to the radio
and a red wire off a swichted fuse (acc) to the radio

and just found a good ground

didnt want to use the existing harness just because it was old

blue is ant or remote for amp hook up brown is ground and i think yellow is power but you have to find the wire that hooks to the key so it shut off with the truck i wish i could help more i put my kenwood deck in1 yr ago:smokin:
