I have a 94, 3.6 with 170k miles on it. I recently changed the radiator (it was cracked) and cap, so I also replaced the thermostat and all hoses. I used 50/50 coolant to water. reservoir is to correct level. I drove it this evening for about 10 minutes and when I came back, the rad. cap and upper rad. hose were so hot I could barely touch them. Gauge reads normal. Any ideas?

They are suppose to get hot, antifreeze will get over 200F.

check the oil it could be a headgasket, get the heads milled and checked to see if they are warped, and use MLS 99-04 headgaskets from RPM-mustangs.com and ARP head studs

I'd be more worried if they were'nt getting hot....Normal on the gauge is around 185 to 195 degrees, so yeah, the metal cap and upper hose are definately going to be hot to the touch...Don't worry, sounds like it's ok!
As far as milling the heads and replacing gaskets and studs :loser:
