wtb: carpet

where was that site that had the better deal on carpets, my old navy blue carpet is starting to smell and its getting old hehe...anyone know that site? was it accmats.com or something like that? cause the site wont work :(

Okay, it's www.automotiveinteriors.com and they actually sell ACC mat products, but cheaper (@ $135). Best deal I've found, was pretty easy to put the new carpet in.

Is It The Same Material As The STOCK Carpet???? I Personally Think That The Stock Carpet SUCKS, Its Very Hard To Clean!!!!!

Anyways, it's not exactly the same, but it's good quality, and if you're having trouble cleaning it, then you should try a vacuum.

Oh, and tbk49, I just ordered "graphite" for mine... sticking with the stock grey look with yellow painted trim pieces.

How did you installed?

It's pretty easy to install... Heres what I did:

Remove EVERYTHING from the interior (door sills, seats, center console, dead-pedal, gas-tank/hatch release levers, rear seat bottom, all plastic carpet screws). Then pull the old carpet out... There's a metal bracket that you have to remove from under the center console, and it only gives you about 1.5" of clearance to slide the carpet up under the dash, kindof a pain. Also, to remove the door-sills, you need a Torx T-40 bit, and those bolts are on there TIGHT!!!! My advice is to use a nice ratchet with a cheater-bar, otherwise, you'll strip them out. This happened to me on one of the bolts, and I had to drill it out and get a new one from the junk-yard.

Anyways, once the old carpet is out (and all the old padding), you just lay it on top of the new carpet (line it up as best you can), and using some sort of marker, trace ALL the holes from the old carpet to the new one. When you do this, trace inside the holes so they're alot smaller than the stock ones. This way, if the holes need to be bigger, you can trim them, but if you make them too big, you're screwed. Then, using scissors or a box-knife, cut the holes out of the new carpet, and trim the edges of the new carpet. It's really easy on the parts that don't have the padding, but it's a bitch to cut through some of that padding material.

You may also want to take the opportunity to remove all the sound-deadening material that's in your car (the black tarry looking stuff under the carpet) I heard that it's about 30lbs of dead weight. I didn't do this for 3 reasons: 1, I'm not that anal about my car's weight. 2, It'd be a huge pain in the ass. And 3, I don't want some loud-ass road-noise in my car...

Anyways, then, test-fit your carpet and trim the holes and edges accordingly. Once you've got the proper fit, make sure all your wiring (seatbelts sensors, etc) are pulled through the appropriate holes, vacuum up all the fuzz, and re-install all the interior stuff...
