I have the 04 GTP. I dont think the fan setup is any different from the 98-03s. Heres my situation. Right now its 102*F outside in CHicago. I cant tell if my High fan or fans are kicking in. WHat is the difference between high and low fans.
I have a DHP Power Tuner and I have my Fan 2 set to kickin at 185*F but I am not sure what to look for when trying to figure out if the high fans are on or if the low fans are on. I had one of our local guys re tune my PCM and he said he had to reset the bin file causing the fan settings to change from where I had them prior and now I dont remember the settings. Now Iam trying to see if my fans are working correctly. In this 102* weather my temps will climb to about 190-195*F. THen it will take a while to go back down.
Here are my settings in Celcius
FAN 1 Coolant Temp
High Turn On = 85*c
Low Turn On = 81.99*c
FAN 2 Coolant Temp
High Threshold = 85*c
Low Threshold = 83.01*c
Fan 1 Keyoff Coolant
116.99 *c

With DHP's standard programming my fan turn point is around 185 degrees. Also, I have a 160 degree thermostat.
So my question is what degree thermostat are you running? Your temp reading really doesn't look bad.
When my fans turn on high I can see the dip in rpms at idle and feel a slight vibration in the steering wheel at fan turn on.
To get an idea of both fans runnning in high disconnect the engine temperature sensor (ECT). I'm assuming it is in the same location like GEN III. With ECT disconnected the fans are both supposed to turn on in high and stay that way. It is a simple test. Before disconnecting ECT make sure engine is cool, engine is off, A/C is off. When you start engine there should be about a 3 - 5 delay before the fans start doing their thing.
Hope the info helps.
