i just bought a new Sony 52*4 head unit. After having it installed the speakers were all crackly and making wierd sounds. Went back and had them check the speakers out. Turns out the lady i bought it from blew the left front and right rear speakers. I dont plan on getting an amp so i was wondering how good i need my speakers to be. I was looking at infinity's and the power handling is really high compared to how much my stereo can put out. Will it sound better to get the high wattage ones or get some lower power speakers so theyre getting a higher percentage of the power they can handle??

Do you crank your system often or are you reserved with the listening? That will make all the difference on what type of speakers you should get.

mostly i listen to the radio at about 1/4 the way up, occasionally i turn it up to half when im with friends and the windows are down. Of course right now only 2 speakers work, so i have to turn it up pretty good to hear

If you plan on adding an external power amplifier then get higher powered speakers. But for your head find speakers with a lower power requirement and a high sensitivity rating (don't use anything under 92 dB/1w 1m). Lower the sensitivity rating usually means it requires more power to get loud.
