How old are most of you that have or are going to buy a 350z? I find it amazing, even as low a price that is on the car, That teenagers or twenty somethings are able to pre order or purchase this car on their own. Dont get me wrong...more power to you if you can or Mom and Dad buys it for you.
I guess my only concern is that this car has look to it that says ...I have made it in my business. It has a succesful grown up look to it like a european car. And so I hope that if young guys do buy it that they dont pimp it out like most of the Hondas that you see on the road. That would be a disgrace.

First car of this type!
Recent cars have all been Jetta GLXs.
I'm due for a change. This car is that change. A little concerned about losing front wheel drive.
Color: Brickyard
Model: Touring
Date: God only knows, when this car will be easy to drive off the lot.

Dan,
That is great! I think that it will be the perfect car for you.
I cant wait to get one myself.
When do you plan on getting one?

As soon as I can actually get just the one I want.
The buzz....and hype on this car, may make it difficult to drive away in, for months to come.
I was all ready to go for another Jetta. This time the GLI, which is a great car for the money.
But this new Z car, looks and reads like a lot of fun....at a price that is way below comparable vehicles..
Front wheel drive will be my biggest change.....and worry.

There are plenty of people out there that are my age (25) that have developed a sense of appreciation for finer things. As a general rule, though, they dont get there with mommy and daddy buying them things.
I agree with your comment that the 350z is more like a self reward for people who have made what they feel is their mark. But that does not mean that they have to be 40 years old.
I started my own business 5 years ago with money that I built up from nothing. I got my own patents. I developed my own products. I even started some micro-trends. Now I have 3 employees working for me and 3 more products in development.
Chances are at least once a week you are in a store that has my products.
Sure I have played with thoughts of one or two modifications but all in the best of taste. One thing is for sure: the stock stereo just won't do...
I’d bet you knew that was coming. For the sake of preserving the image of the Z I can tell you now that I will not be installing some window shattering bass machine. I just want to make sure that that for those moments when all I want to hear is crisp clear music...not the road, or the traffic, (even with the widows down) all I have to do is turn it up. Maybe a little Stevie Ray or some Eric Clapton...
Yup, that’s right.... I'm 25.

Whoa!
I didn't mean to offend you! I was just making a statement. That is great that you have your own business...most twenty somethings do not. I praise you for that. My biggest question...and I'm not putting anyone down, is that how could they afford to buy one? The main age that I was talking about was teenager to low 20's. But even mid 20's sometimes is hard to purchase anything without several years of credit. I should know I'm 37 years old and had to go through all of that.
So good luck to you my 25 year old business man:frog: For you are few and far between of the real world!:p

I'm 18, and actually work at a nissan dealership, I plan to purchase my track edition 350z about a year from now...when the dealership will sell it to me for 1% under invoice :) haha...anways. I'm not a ricer, I would however, probably put a nice custom stereo in the car...maybe a twin turbo setup if someone makes one, but that is all I'd do to the vehicle. Right now I have a new celica with the TRD action package, so yes it's kinda riced out, but since it's slow as hell, I figured I'd at least make it look fast for the ladies ;)

Whats wrong with a Honda? Just because some kids love to put big spoilers, stickers and blue lights on their Hondas, it doesn't mean every Honda is bad.
There is no point to hate Honda owners, as I respect Nissan cars and owners.

In answer to how the 20 year olds can afford a 350Z, I would venture to guess many of them are putting small amounts down and will take a loan for 72 months. That is the same as leasing, i.e. the person really can't afford the car. IMO, one should never finance for more than 3 or 4 years and should have at least 20% to put down on a car. Taking out long term auto loans in your 20s is likely to lead to car payments throughout your life and an inability to save for other important goals. Just my opinion for what it's worth.

But you are right..It's not worth living just to pay a car payment.

Right.
I think that car payment shouldn't be more than 1/10th of your income. If you are making $5000/month, car payment should be less than $500.

Had my first Z when I was 18. It was an 87, grey 5spd that I loved to death, and cried when the guy I sold it to drove away. I had to pay for my senior year of college, so the Z had to go. I decided to go luxury for a change (see side bar for car info) and I HATE IT!!! Screw the soft ride crap, I want my Daytona Blue, Performance Model 6spd so I can get pulled over for doing a 100 mph in a 40 zone again.:smoker2: Okay, so I don't really want that to happen again, but it's funny when I look back at that. Oh, and by the way, I'm a twenty-smoething, but I also happen to be a doctor, so I think I'll be paying for this one myself. And I really hope Nismo gives us something to play with.

I'm 16. I plan on getting one as soon as they come out, but now, I'm not too sure if I'll be able to get a black one in Track or Touring with six speed and spoiler. If not, I'll settle for either Mustang SVT or GT, Trans Am, or Corvette. I've even been looking at the WRX. Gotta have a backup plan in case I can't get one.

if anyone out there is concerned about the 350Z being rear wheel drive, I say why???? Front wheel drive SUCKS. FWD is for non enthusiast drivers that want to be able to control a car in snow i guess??? I bought my Z because it does have rear wheel drive. Why do you suppose that the most exotic cars in the world have RWD. This car is absolutely the best performance car available for the money...bar none. I will be going crazy just waiting to take delivery in early Nov.

I'm 19. I'm paying the difference for the car (after I sell my current car) in cold, hard greenbacks. This will be my 4th car in almost 4 years. I'm a big car buff and enthusiast.. I plan on keeping this one for a realllly long time though. How I get the money for it really isn't important but it isn't from my mommy or daddy and it isn't by doing anything illegal.. I work hard for my money and I do see this as a bit of a reward to myself. Cars make me happy.. they're my therapy (and even at 19 I'm in need of much therapy.. so I figure in the long run this is cheaper than a shrink!) I see how some older people who have worked really hard for their money may see this as an insult.. but "be kind, everyone is fighting a battle"... besides, kids these days aren't invested in stocks and mutual funds like older people are... gen-x is probably more wealthy than those who have been working for 40 years.
I'm with you on the honda thing... I'm really hoping there won't even be that many mods (as fat as the way the car looks) available for this car. I think it looks so sweet just the way it is. I just hope that it doesn't become a common sight in my town.. I'd love to be one of the few that has one. I definitely won't make it look like a honda or one of those other stripped light weights... they aren't even in the same category...

I dont think anyone is insulted. In my case, I'm damn jealous. My post was only directed to those that had mom and dad, regardless of age, buy them a nice first car. If you bought your car with your own money and your young, more power to you. I'm just jealous of kids that have no car payments, didn't spend a dime, and have a nice car because of mom and pops. It's a very common occurance where I live in San Diego. As a matter of fact my two younger brothers are perfect specimens(parents didn't have alot when "I" needed a car). I was shocked when my youngest brother told me the kind of cars in his high school parking lot. Heres a short list: 3 S2000, 2 new vettes, a whole lotta newer mercedes and lexus, and some audi's and bimmers. What happened to Civics and Sentras??? Some kids are even getting new sportbikes!!! My little brother just got a new Infiniti and he said its just okay at his school. What!!! I keep telling my bros, damn, its gonna be hard when you guys have to really buy a car because your standards are so high now. Can you imagine what car you would be happy with after having a new BMW or MB as a first car. For me, my first car was the family hand me down, a 1977 Toyota Corona wagon(yellow with faux wood paneling). So any car was an upgrade and the civic I bought was a huge upgrade. Then I bought an Isuzu Trooper and now I'm getting a Z.

I should hope that no one is insulted. I work hard and I plan on working harder one day so that I can get the porsche or viper or ghini or ferri that i want (those are my little nicknames for them) :) Anyway, I"m thrilled about my Z but at the same time I'm pretty nervous. I have to wait til january to get mine. I think it'll be worth the wait... I just hope I can afford insurance!!! I have to pay for rent and utilities.. plus now this new car and the higher insurance.. and b/c I'm spending this money on a car my mom thinks she shouldn't have to help me out anymore financially so she's cutting me off! This car is costing me a lot more than the difference in the price of my old car and this new one! Sigh!! And by the way, if anybody knows anybody who wants to buy a 2002 Accord EX-V6 coupe fully loaded with every possible option but a spoiler (I still think they look better without them!) let me know!! :) Y'all have a great day!

I was a fortunate kid - I grew up with beautiful Z's since I can remember. We had a green 240.. black 260... several 280s and 2 300s. I blame (thank) my Dad for my love of the Z.. And the irony that he was the one who found the available Redline Touring 6spd that I picked up last Saturday!

Right now I work as an intern at a commercial real estate devlopment firm and next year I will be working full time there. I am 17 and have decided that at this point I don't believe college is a good option for me. I admit I am living with my mother but I will be financing my new 350Z (Touring, Daytona Blue) with the money I am earning. This car is for everyone, and I think that's a great thing.
