Cruise control not working

Looked for a previous post about this but couldn't find one - sorry if its a repeat.

So I got a 2003 Focus ZX5 now, with about 60000 miles on it. Drives great, hasn't given me any problems to speak of, except the cruise control quit working. It worked fine and then one day I tried to use it and it just didn't work... After driving without it working for like maybe 2 or 3 weeks, I tried it again, this time jiggling the On and Set buttons repeatedly, and voila! it came on... so it worked for a couple days and then bam, no more cruise control. And now I can't make it work at all, regardless of how much I jiggle the buttons (trust me, I've tried about every way...)

Is this most likely a problem with the switches (steering wheel buttons), or something else? Anyone else have a similar problem? I'm getting tired of not having cruise control...

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/advice/help

Loose worn contacts in a switch can cause switch failure. Test the input and output of the switch.
