Intermitent A/C operation on 2000 Intrigue

I believe I read about similar problems as mine a couple months back but could not find the posts. I have a 2000 Intrigue w/o the automatic climate control. The A/C button randomly turns itself on and off after I have turned it on. When it is on it does blow cold air out all the vents. I thought I recalled seeing a post about about those buttons getting dirty or sensitve contacts on the backside and could be cleaned. I already took it to a shop and they could find no problems with the A/C system itself and refrigerant was fine. Anyways if anyone out there could help it would be appreciated.

Yeah, there are usually some posts about this every summer. I'm sorry I'm not at all knowledgable about autos, but if you search 'AC' I'd think someone who is would probably know how to resolve this.
My car does the same thing, but I don't drive allot so it isn't really something I need fixed. I use a method posted some time back and it actually works most of the time. Try giving the side of the console next to the AC button a nice whack when the light goes out. This usually turns the light back on and gets it cold again for me. When this doesn't work, trying the button again can also do the trick. Sorry I couldn't be more help, but it's worth a try.
