What can You do to a v6 firebird W/the T-5 to make it faster other than CAI, cam, andheaders/exhaust? are there any "free mods" like with the LS1? does superchips or someone make a programer for it? The car is a 95 by the way. sorry to ask, I'm sure ten people a week ask the same type of questions.

You say that like Nitrous is cheap and like it's like changing your oil to install. How many nitrous systems have you installed? Especially since we don't even know what he is working with, I doubt the 3.4 could handle a whole lot of nitrous and you're gonna start breaking shit.

A 3.4 can handle about a 50 shot safely. I'm not a big fan of nitrous on stock engines, just too risky. You can always start off with the basics though, intake/headers/exhaust. After that, ignition with new plugs/wires/coils, pulley's, rearend gears/posi unit, swap in an aluminum driveshaft to help reduce the drivetrain loss. 180* thermostat (or even a 160* one with a nice tune to follow it up would help). Not sure what would be considered a "good" clutch to go with, but maybe one of the other fella's here can recommend one (obviously I've got an auto). Unless you plan on moving to the internals, then that's all the bolt on mods I can think of off the top of my head.

Edit: btw.. only "free mod" I can think of is the throttle body bypass

The hardest part about installing Nitrous Oxide is changing the plugs. I have installed a couple the first time I installed it I had trouble installing the Window switch and the fuel pressure switch becuase I bought the kit used and it came with no instructions once I got the instructions it was cake. I went from tr-55 NGK's to Tr-6 NGKs for the spark plugs and that was the hardest part about the install. It't not like you need any special tools just a drill and some wrenches (ratchets are faster but it could be done with wrenches). Plus with the kits for the v6 camaros it's practically bolt on (I hear I dont own a v6 but there are a few that hang out at the local spot who claim Nitrous is pretty easy to install). Plus in comparison Nitrous is cheap horsepower.

In comparison to what? If you're gonna install nitrous it would be better to do some work to the engine first. That way you know the engine will take it better and then you can run the nitrous longer without F-ing up the engine. Plus, I doubt Nitrous is cheaper in the long run, and it's barely usable on the street. I think that a turbo setup is a much better way to go in this case since I doubt the car will be used soley for the strip.

The bad thing about a v-6 is that it's a v-6. it's not worth the hassle to fully mod the thing and only get an extra 30h.p.
Nitrous is the best bang for the buck, but the bottles empty quickly and $30 a pop, it adds up.

I know a guy that had ported heads, cam, headers, exhaust, etc... put on his 3.8 Camaro. For what it was, it didn't perform much better than stock. It was still pathetic at the track. It grenaded a lifter and he had me swap in LS1/4L60-E running gear. He couldn't believe how big the difference in power was. The first time at the track is was down in the mid 13s. The modded v-6 did a best at a high 14 in the 1/4 mile.

Sell the car and get a Z28.
