August 1 , 1981 MTV premeires. Boy, they've come a long way since the beginning 25 years ago. I remember when they first went on the air, we didn't have cable so we had to go over to someone's house that had it to see it. That was when MTV actually played videos  What are some of your favorite moments in MTV history?

Don't know anything about it. Never watched it and never will.
But my favorite moment would have to be the spawning of MTV 2. Because MTV thought they would actually go back to playing music.

I want my old MTV. Back when they played something besides rap or had these "reality" shows.

:iagree: When VH1 premeired, I thought it was mainly "for the old folks." But within a short time found myself watching it more. They play a lot more videos than MTV or MTV2, and I like their programming such as Behind The Music, I Love The '70s, '80s', '90s, and their other shows that spotlight 50 or 100 Best Of... videos or moments. I also try to catch VH1C when Directv offers it free for a weekend once in awhile. They seem to offer more programming in my age range, (35+), especially, '80s type rock, hair metal, etc.

I <3 VH1C. Probably the best channel ever invented.

I think the most memorable moment of MTV history was when it was taken off the air forever after some guy who was so fed up with all the mindless immature crap they were producing which grossly influenced culture in such a horrible way that he burned every last one of their studios to the ground and massacred.....oh wait, that hasn't happened.....yet :uhoh:
But yeah, VH1classic ROCKS!!! :ylsuper:

I remember when I moved into my own house in college and finally could have cable tv.
I turned on MTV and soon realized I hated it... that was my favorite moment
