Hello All,

I am new to the world of Cavaliers thus the newbie question. I have always been a Chevy guy so I am glad to be getting out of my old Nissan and into a newer domestic. My problem is that I do not yet have posession of the car and I may not have it for a few more days. However, I am big into the car audio world, and a stock stereo will just not suffice. I want to start compiling the components that I need to complete the system. What I need to know is the stock sizes of the front door speakers and the rear speakers. Now the car is a convertible not a coupe or sedan. I have called around to try and find out but no one is sure for the convertible. If you all could let me know about your experiences that would be great!

Thanks in advance!

4x6 in front and 6x9 in back, but i would get a bracket adapter so you can put 6.5 in the front like i did cuz 4x6 is horrible

Great! I was hoping that I could do the 6.5 in the front because I have a hookup on a good set of MB Quarts components. Thanks, I appreciate the help.

Are you sure you can fit a 6.5 in there? I have a set of type R component 5.25 and it barely fits in there.

some speakers are thicker than others and you might have to do a little adjusting to make them fit, i did not want to deal with adjusting so i got some kicker ds60 and they fit but just barely

Bingo. Its the big magnet that is the problem.

well the brackets make the speaker sit closer to teh door panel so there is a bit of room behind, how big of a speaker do you have

the magnets on door speakers arent that big.

They are 5.25 Alpine Type R components, and they always used to hit the door panel with somewhat bassy notes. Yes the magnet is that big. I dont drive a cavy anymore (RIP about a year ago). But I have a 00 Sunfire GT now and it is the same deal but worse. I had to make custom brackets just to get the door panel to sit properly. And yes the magnet almost hits the window when I put the window down, so it is tight as I can make it. I think they still would hit the door panel if I turned down the high pass on my amp.
