performance upgrade help

i want to add power to my '98 Z-24 2.4L and want to know what are some good upgrades

i was looking at performance chips just for some cheap power that is an easy start to upgrading and was woundering if they actualy do what they claim to do or if they are just blowing smoke up my butt

but a nice place to start is intake and full exhaust (header back)

well......i have not done anything yet myself but i the previous owner put some stuff on, i think there is a new header, new exhast, new air intake system, and prolly a few other things that i have not found yet.

he also had nitrous in it cuz there are bottle mount holes in the trunk and a switch under the dash that lights a button on the dash up

and since there was nitrous in it i would imagine he did some other mods to make it safe and not ruin the engine

upgraded ignition ( i.e plugs, wires, coil packs) high flow cat, stiffer engine mounts, lightened pullys with all that stuff you will have spent a lil bit of money. so hope you have it.

also there is alot more things you can do to increase horse power. just its going to take alot more money.

Your car will not have wires or coil packs so disregard that. You have a distributorless ignition system. If you have a digi cam to your disposal, snap a few pics of your engine bay and exhaust and we can let you know if anything has been upgraded. Main things like header, intake, etc.

^^^^^^^^that header isn't stock is it? my dad said it wasn't but im not sure

well i dunno about teh header hard to see the the intake is a wanna be cold air intake, more or less your stock stuff with a chunck of metal and a round filter

no, id start savin for a new car. unless your gonna boost it. and that guy looks like he went a little crazy wit the colored wire protector thingys...lol ive been there tho, give yourself a year to really think of what you want...i didnt and ended up spending over 4000 dollars on my car in parts and some labor, and it was pretty much a waste. think about what you want before you spend

...Keep in mind this is coming from a 2200 owner. I've been there myself, owned a 2.2 and I dumped over 5k total only to realize that it was a huge waste, I LOVE my z24 tho.

And what's wrong with wire loom? It's a cheap way to clean up the engine and make it presentable.

i would get rid of the almost CAI and get a real one. i cant really tell from the picture if its a stock header or not. but if it isnt swap it out with a pacesetter and then exhaust back. good place to start.

lol ok as far as the motor goes start from scratch, cause apperently the previous owner didnt have a bloody clue as to what he was doing...judging by the pics that is a make shift header...the air intake is half assed....that motor has alot of potential but do work with whats there...do it yourself...my alero has that same motor and with all the mods ive done to it so far and the mods to come...she is going to be a beast! as far as the intake goes go ingen...i had no problems installing it...pacesetter is ok but look around for the header. i ran a tusdo header on mine before we pulled it off to turbo it...

remember when it comes to performance you gt what you pay for... if you half ass somthing your going to regret it in the long run..
