I just bought a 2000 GLX 1.8 turbo with a broken crankshaft and here's NOOB question of the day, do I need an specific crankshaft or can I just slam any beetle crankshaft into my beetle's engine? 'cause i've seen a lot of crankshft out there on the internet but i haven't got the slightest idea which one will fit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance

I just purchased a n '03 Beetle convertable with only 25K miles on it. I want to change the cabin filter. The filter came with instructions saying to remove the center piece in the top of the dash by pushing in on two clips on either side of the plastic center piece.
I cannot find any "clips" and do not want to pry anything as I know I'll break something. Anyone know how to make this change?:banghead:
Thanks

you need the specific crank that came in the engine. Look on the timing belt cover and there is a white sticker. There is a 3 letter engine code on it (awp, awm, aeb)

take a small flathead screwdriver and put it inbetween the vent trim and the center dash cover. While prying backwards hit the trim pannel fowards with the palm of your hand. A couple trys and it should pop off.
Then remove the t20 torx screws by the windshield and pull off the right dash trim pannel and umplug the speaker if there is one. Then remove the 6 t20 screws from that pannel and remove that pannel. The filter is located right there.
