My son recently purchased a 2000 se. Had the pleasure of taking it out for a spin. @ 51 it has been a while since I have driven a stick in something with the top down. Had so much fun I went and took my wife for a drive.
Has around 90 thousand and from what I could tell most everything under the hood appeared original. Cap, rotor, and plugs gave it a little more umph on the highway. Air cleaner was spotless. Changed oil and filter just cause. Will be flushing the coolant soon. Figure on replacing the gear oil in the trans and the ATF in the transfer case. Should do the rear ends also.
The only things that seemed like they need attention otherwise are the 4 way flashers (work inconsistantly) and the stereo is loose.
It is fun to work on my sons ride with him. Hope I get to drive it again. Any suggestions on PM items will be greatly appreciated, thanxs in advance.

Welcome to the Jeep club!
Thanxs. So far no more rides. Hope it sits still long enough to check out some of the items you listed. Wil check out the fan clutch. That radiator shroud is deep enough that I may need to remove it.

Well got the jeep for a whole day. Note to self. Suntan lotion. Ouch. Had a great time. Put over 250 miles on. Went up to Erie and drove in the sand. Got to love having 4 wheel drive when you need it.
Had my mechanic buddy check it out. All well except for 1 leaking wheel cylinder, a serp belt, and a slight leak from the pinion seal. If my son lets it sit still long enough this sunday I should be able to do all.
