Does anyone know if you can swap a northstar or other engine into a 92 seville other than the 4.9 engine or is it just not possible? Any comments would be appreciated.

Welcome to AF. I don't know what the advantantage is doing this but, the N'star would require exhaust, subframe, all the mounts, pcm, wire harness, trans, really not a practical undertaking for an ordinary person, unless funds were unlimited.

He's right. The car just isn't worth the HUGE task of getting everything to work right! Northstar engines don't like to work out of thier original car. I'm sure a Northstar with a 4T80E tranmission could be made to work, but it would be a big PITA! Is there something wrong with your 4.9? It's a great engine if taken care of.

Yeah it doesn't work it has a blown head gasket closet head to the firewall. I just thought it might be easier to pickup a newer northstar and drop it in but from reading the replys it looks like it definetly isnt worth the trouble. I have another car that i drive daily and the seville has been sitting for a while but i would like to eventually get it back up and running. I guess i could fix the blown head gasket.

It might even be cheaper to buy a good used 4.9 and put that in. If they are taken care of, the 4.9s can easily last 300k miles or more.

For the amount of money and time it would take, it would be cheaper to just buy on 06 STS instead. The Northstar system is more than just an engine. It is a complete powertrain package. Engine, trans, TC, ABS ect. They all play a part in the system, and are interlinked more than you can imagine.
