Yesterday, I cut Jeep on and instead of it rising to about 1300rpm then falling to 800rpm, the engine just goes straight to 6-700rpm then falls to 500rpm. I checked the "Things to Know forum" and the IAC MOTOR symptom was the closest because when the engine is running and turning the wheel to acutate the power steering the engine almost cut off and just shakes more(not severely, but just because of the low rpms). Do you guys think the IAC is the most likely problem.

IAC: Anyone with previous problem please give solution, I can do light mechanical service with basic garage toolset.
--How much does IAC cost.

Also, theres a clanking noise when backing up or when turning and applying brakes. It comes from the right side, I've read threads about CV joints for 4wd Jeeps being the cause, but mine is a 2001 2wd. Anyone know whats going on please help.

Sorry to be long-winded, its hurts to see problems arise from the glorious and rugged Jeep, had it since 7,000 miles and now has 156,000 hard miles. So yes, Jeeps are reliable. I ENJOY MOST SLIDING SIDEWAYS THROUGH CONSTRUCTION SITES AFTER RAIN!!!!!!!!!!

I would say that the IAC is your best starting point. You can do it yourself, just be sure to disconnect the battery BEFORE you start the work and reconnect it last. Make sure you read the instructions that come with the new one.
