I have a 96 T/C with rear air and rear heat. The heater lines going to the rear of the vehicle have corroded and begun to leak. What I would like to do is bypass the rear heat and just connect the two lines together creating a loop. The question is, "Where are the lines located up front"? The corrosion begins just as the lines go up from the bottom of the vehicle.
Thanks for your help.

Cut the pipe at the corrosion and see if you can slide a header hose on up on the pipe well past the corrosion.
If not you might as well get new stell piping on engine to heater.
To elminate rear heater you can also get engine to heater piping for no rear heater.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I have the same problem with my 2001 Grand Caravan. Dealer states there was a recall for this problem but my VIN number does not come up on their computer as one of the vehicles in the recall. $149.00 for parts. Approximately $300.00 for labor. Could you not also use heater hose to connect the lines around the rusted out area, thereby saving your rear heater rather than bypassing it?

Yes- many people replace with heater hose. Just be carefull that they are tied down well and don't touch either the manifolds or the exhaust pipe!

Also if you do this carry extra hose on hand with a hose repair kit. The one that has an insert sleeve with hose clamps.. 5.00 item will save hundreds if for some reason a failure occurs on the road.. Even with the metal hoses I have heard of people hitting stuff on the HWY and breaking a hose.. Not only on Caravans but Windstars as far as hose failure.
