Ok, i'm probably asking a question thats been asked 100 times before, and i'll start searching the forum after i post this, but wanted to narrow down the question by the following:

Could someone recommend some Good value speakers that i can get from a store such as futureshop, here in canada.

I'm thinking about just picking up two 6" pioneer 3 ways. But i know i can also get Sony's, or i can buy Invinity 2 ways... So wich sould i get...

So Pioneer, Sony, Kenwood, JVC, or Invinity?
Two ways or three ways?

thanks

Its for a 94 honda civic 4dr, and my music tasts run the whole spectrum.

Personally, depending on the models your looking at, i would go for the infinity's. They are of a much higher caliber than pioneer, kenwood, JVC, or Sony. If its sold at the store your talkin about , i would also try and look into eclipse. I have a pair of eclipse speakers and they sound nicer than my friends pioneer speakers and can compete pretty well with my other friend's Infinity reference components as far as sound quality goes. I got mine for $120.

In response to the 2 or 3-way... i cant really tell much of a difference between the two and i think that the 30ways are a bit of a waste of money.

Hope that helps

i agree, go with infinity.

In response to AnzDragon...

i have only ever heard the infinity kappa components in the store so i cant be positive on how they would sound in a car compared with the eclipse's i have now. But as far as i could tell they had excellent quality and i would probably say that the kappa components would be hands down better than my eclipse's because they have a better sound quality at a higher volume. As far as the kappa 2-ways i would say that they are about the same (i have a friend that has them in his 87 civic)

Go with the infinity's. If you want to go a bit cheaper, go with the pioneers, then the kenwoods, then jvc, then lastly sony. In that order.

Ok, thanks for the advise...
Cranium, i take it the order you listed would apply for decs to (excluding infinity)...? I'm about to purchase a JVC MP3 Deck - while price isn't really a consideration here, it seems that JVC gives you more bang for the buck when it comes to MP3 Decks - Kenwood was a consideration, but the damn thing makes it sooo hard to navigate through the mp3 files..

ps - in regards to mp3 decks ROCKFORD's decks are by far the Easiest to navigate through MP3's - you can even easily navigate though subfolders and everything - No other deck on the market can do that efficiently(regardless of price)... Pitty, rockfords decks are made my delco, and that there singinal to noice reatio is like 89... oh well... i guess i'll get the cheep JVC, and wait a couple of years for the mp3 deck market to mature a bit... would be nice if they handled DVD format...

I have never heard Eclipse speakers before, but i will take the word of the guys that say they sound nice. I am a JL Audio guy myself, and they play exceptionally well compared to anything else i have heard. I own JL's TR series 5.25" and 6x9" speakers which is their bottom of the line speaker series and they sound remarkable. I got them at 6th Ave Electronics if i remember correctly for $120 (5.25") and $160 (6x9") and they sound awesome running off of my Pioneer FH-P404 head unit. I would go for JL over anything else in it that price range. They have amazing midbass and do not show any sign of distortion when they are turned up real loud when you have your head unit tuned the right way. I am looking into buying a 4-channel amp to add some extra mid-range punch to these puppies. I have them hooked up in the factory locations of my 1990 Honda Accord Sedan. I also have a Rockford Punch 500a2 amp pushing a JL CS310R-W0 enclosure which is basically 3 JL 10" W0 subwoofers in a sealed enclosure and they hit nice as all hell.
Now if you are going to choose between all of the companies you had listed, than go with the rest of guys when they write Infinity because before i had my JL 5.25" speakers in my front doors i had Infinity Reference 5.25" in there and they sounded very very nice. Dont go for 3-way speakers when dealing with anything thats not a 6x9" speaker because its just a waste of space and money because they do cost more than 2-ways would. The Kappa series is kinda expensive for what you get, i personally would go for the Reference series because they are much more worth the price you pay. I had Pioneer 3-way 6x9" speakers before i got my JL 6x9's and they sounded real nice but the JL just kicks his butt with he midbass and the clarity it gives you at such high volumes. And when i say clarity i dont mean good midrange with half decent bass i mean greay midbass with great midrange and great highend. JVC speakers suck, Sony speakers suck, Kenwood sucks!Pioneers are good.
If you dont have $160 to spend than i say save a little money and buy JL Audio TR600-CXi or VR600-CXi speakers which are both 6" coaxial speakers. The TR series will go for about $160ish and the VR series will run you about $200. The TR600-CXi is rated at 50wRMS @ 4ohm and the VR600-CXi 60wRMS @ 4ohm. Trust me i swear by these speakers they are amazing! I hope i was some help!

oh boy... not to bash JL (they kick ass, wish i had a pair of those in my trunk rather than the MTX's, 2 10 w6's would suit me just fine) but if you haven't heard eclipse speakers your missing out. IMO, when compared to each of their equivelents, i would probably say i would go for MB quart, Focal, eclipse, JL, boston, infinty in that order

For the price that you pay for the JL Audio TR & VR series speakers i dont think that anything can compare to them. They just sound so remarkable. I think MB Quart, focal, eclipse, boston and infinity are all good but not for the price you pay for JL.
I mean shit dude, the ultimate system in my soon to be Civic Hatch, i would have a Pioneer DEH-P9400MP or an Alpine CDA-7998, with MB Quart QSD 216 seperates in my front doors and in the rear side panels powered by a JL Audio 300/4 amplifier with a JL Audio 12W7 being powered by a JL Audio 1000/1 amplifier with a 1 farad Monster Cap hooked being powered by an Optima Yellow Top Battery. I would use Monster cable in the whole setup and ofcourse with the whole car dowsed in Dynomat Xtreme to keep all unwanted road noise & sound out. Tell me what you think!
