ok my mechanic was in the works of dropping a b-16a into my 91 civic dx sedan when he offered me a b-20 non vtec for $200 more!!!! installed. i went ahead and accepted the offer. was this the right choice im looking for power and reliability at the same time since thats my daily car. and does anyone know the specs on b-20 non vtec and do u think i made a good choice.
im going vtec in about 2 months.

since when aren't they both drop in engines?
anyways, which B20 did you go with? B20B or B20Z? CRV engines from the factory are VERY restrictive. once you free up some restriction, behold the power of the B20! by adding some Type R intake, intake manifold, header, and exaust, you get about a B16's peak power (160hp), if not more, and a whole lot more torque. the only thing is don't try to raise the rev limiter higher once you add VTEC. with a built bottom end, stay under 7800RPM. on stock bottom, leave the limiter the way it is.

ah man..can't you exchange it for the B20Z? do you plan to upgrade the pistons, etc later on?

i hope you were in the process of dropping in a 1st gen cuz the 2nd gen is waaay more expensive than a b20. plus the b16's arent' all that bad. i think i might've jsut went for the b16. that's just my opinion, but your swap is still pretty bad ass. i hope you have fun with it....

you'd wish you had taken the B20Z over the B20B.
