SO THIS IS THE SECOND TIME MY DURABGO HAS OVERHEATED AND THE DEALER CAN NOT SEEM TO FIGURE OUT WHY. THE FIRST TIME IT TOTALLY OVERHEATED SO I HAD IT TOWED...FRIDAY THE GUAGE STARTED TO RISE TO ABOUT 3/4 AND I JUST PULLED IT OVER AND HAD IT TOWED AGAIN.
 ANY SUGGESTIONS TO WHAT THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE?

Staying simple...have you or the dealership flushed & changed the coolant, making sure to put in a new thermostat? They're like $7 & should last a lot longer than 2 or 3 years but you never know. Also, it's easier to flush & refill the system with the thermostat out. I am always in favor of trying the cheap obvious stuff first.
If you put in everything that has been done, it would help others to come up with suggestions.

The Dealership Told Me That My Radiator Cap Was Off Then Said Is Was Loose, Which Was Done By Them Saturday Morning Obviously Because I Certainly Didn't Touch It With It Overheating. They Also Say That The Thermostat Is Working Fine, But My Coolant Was Low. We Shall See Over The Next Few Days What Happens. I Am Picking It Up This Evening.
Again, This Has Only Happened Twice In The Last Year Around The Same Time Of Year. It Just So Happens That We Are Having Extremely Hot Temps This Time Of Year!

Not to knock your dealership, but do they seem competent to you? Just because they are the dealership does not mean that they have good mechanics. If it is under warranty, I guess it's a lot cheaper to use them. If it's not under warranty, find a good shop that your friends know & trust. Dealerships can be the worst place to go, depending on the management & ethics.
I would be wanting to know how much coolant has disappeared & more importantly, where is it going. Maybe it's nothing, maybe it's something serious waiting to happen.
If your cap was loose, I am 99% sure that you would have been leaking & smelling coolant that you really could not miss. My 99 Durango has never lost more than a pint or so to resevior evaporation. It's a closed system otherwise & not something you want taken lightly.
You can blow an engine from overheating easier than just about anything other than a massive oil leak or oil pressure loss.
