97 T&C Engine Stalls

My 97 T&C has 204K miles. Lately, its been driving a little rough and the Engine light would come on, but not stay. A coupl etimes it has stalled at stop lights. Now, it stalls while driving down the highway. About once or twice a week (I know, why the heck would I keep driving it like that...)

I took it in and they told me first it could be 1 of two things. Solenoid Pack ($350) or Transmission Rebuild ($1800). Before I left, they said they were going to do some compression testing (I think) and so they did. Came back and said it was the transmission.

He kind of described something about the fluid being transfered too fast and it stalls out the engine.

The Check engine light is now on consistantly (did so just before I bought it in). They told me the codes, but I dont recall. So I checked them myself by counting the blinks:

124
561

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I think you need to find a good mechanic and repair shop that can check it out right before you get took for a expensive ride.:grinyes:

What engine do you have?
From the codes you have now.
You have a TPS sensor problem.
And the code 561 low voltage could be causing a lot of your problems.

First clear codes and see what comes back.
And check out the charging and battery and voltage on it.
Is your battery and alt in good shape?
Any way to get the code no the repair shop found to start with.
I do not see why they figured solenoid pack or transmission.
Something strange there.
I think some proper testing is in order.
