Lately ive had a problem with my automatic. One thing that pisses me off is everytime i accelerate from a stop sign or a red light, for me to get going the friggin car accelerates to like 5rpm before it will shift. I always feel like i need to start out slow until the car shifts and then start going faster. Will the transgo shift kit make it shift at like 3 or 4k rpm's?

it will not make it shift lower, but it will help your shifts and improvem 100% more. transgo is the BEST out there. i HIGHLY recomend it. it will not only do that, but it doubles the life of your tranny.to adjust your shift point, you have to mess with the tv cable or buy a hypertec programer thing to adjust the shifts.

How hard is the install?

I recommend you watch the video and read the instruction at very least 3 times before you attempt it. While I did it and it wasn't so bad. It might be a tad much for a beginner and infact I bought my kit from a guy who purchased it from summit and then watched the video and didn't want to attempt it but I must say. Night and day after doing it but it does not control shift points like was mentioned.

Sounds like a sticking TV valve. I always use those reprogramming kits, always with a rebuild though, I've never installed one by itself. R&Ring the valve body with the trans in the vehicle is kind of a pain, but not too bad. Installing the kit is fairly simple, just follow the instructions, go over them a few times like FormulaLT1 suggested. The kits I use also repack the 2-4 servo, I'm not sure if there is enough room to R&R it in the car. Good luck with it.
