hi everyone. i've decided to start a new thread to track my progress. this is going to be my second kit ever. but its the first kit since i discovered this forum with all its faqs and how to's. apparently primer is neccesary. :D :) :D :) so that first one didn't count. ;)
all i did today was file, sand, and primer. but after i put on the primer i noticed i missed a couple mold lines in front so i'll have to redo that tomorrow.
this is wat it looks like now
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/421330r33two.jpg
i'm planning on painting it a nice silver.
i'll be posting pics of my progress as i go along and i also hope to hear thougths and opinions from everyone out there.
thanks to jay for all your help.
got a question, anyone in the southern california area know of a hobby shop that carries that tamiya T-cut stuff?? havent been able to locate any.

I haven't seen any T-cut, but as I understand it, it would be in paint stores more then hobby shops. I'll look ardound and see where it can be found...
I REALLY like the front bumper on this kit. :D I've been meaning to pick one up for a long time. Where did you get it?

A few local places to look for hobby stuff:

They have some military dioramas there that'll blow your mind. I could look at them for hours. Their prices aren't exactly low, but when they have something you want...
They also have a 1/12 scale NSX made by Rosso that's real hard to come by nowadays that's built up and sitting in their display case. Apparently the kit came with an extra engine to display outside the car.
There's a place in Montclair called Pegasus Hobbies that decent, but it's right down the street from Upland, so I buy paint there a lot. Their prices run high. Pegasus Hobbies is know for producing a wide selection of wheels and accessories for low-rider models, like gold 100-spoke rims. They also reconfigured the servos in an R/C car to give it "Hoppin' Hydros." LOL! That thing's rad!
You could also try a chain of hobby stores called "Hobby People," (formerly Hobby Shack). They carry the static models, but not a particularly wide selection. I did buy my S2000 from them, though. :D
I found a place in L.A./Hollywood once, but I can't remember where it is, doh! My friend says thay have models in the Japan-town area in the toy stores, but I've never been. :(<edit: i guess my definition of "local" depends on whether you have a car or not... :p>

I think someone recently had a thread about polishing with Mothers/Meguiars polishing liquids of differing grits...

progress. i have refiled reprimed and painted my skyline. the color looks kinda strange to my. dunno y. its supose to be a nissan silver. but doesnt look quiet right. i had a lil trouble painting a underhang on the doors. the side skirts seem to be blocking the area.
Summer went by fast i'm starting classes tomorrow. won't have a lot of time for my skyline. :(
