blow off valve for intake

i have a 92 protege DOHC with cold air intake,headers,performance pistons,camsect..... would a blow off valve work to realese the gurgle out of the exsaust. my air flow meter is from an rx7 and it suck so much air. i sound like a loud mustang!!!!thanks

no. no it wouldn't. blow off valves are for forced induction setups. they let off compressed air when the throttle plate closes so the compressor doesn't surge. they don't go on the exhaust. wastegates go on the exhaust, but those are to regulate boost pressure for turbo's. you have no need for a blow off valve or wastegate, and if you're thinking about adding an intercooler to your intake, you can stop with that, too, because you can't get air colder than ambient temperature. plus with the added piping of the intercooler, you're just inviting more heat soak into your intake tract. intercoolers are also used when boost is involved because compressed air is hot air.

if you want to fix your exhaust gurgle, have a shop weld in a 30" resonator for you. maybe add a chambered muffler instead of a flow-through. also, headers are often responsible for adding rasp to the exhaust note, so if that's bugging you... at least you know where to look now.
