hey,
whats up everyone.Another one of my wonderful questions for someone more technically advanced than myself... he he he :bloated:

anyways.... im getting a 1988 crx DX, and while it has more (HP) than my 91 crx HF:alien: , i would like to somehow add more power to it without an engine swap for now! So my question is? . . . . HOW???

can i convert the DX to an Si somehow by switching out the head and fuel injectors and efi?????

or can there be any mods that i can do to obtain more HP (without Turbo,Nitrous,Supercharger, complete engine swap!)

i just wanna be able to beat my boys 88 crx si!!!!!!!!! its a Piece of shit but he really smokes my 91 HF>>>>lol

any help will be greatly appreciated!

I don't know man, my sister owns a aftermarket performance shop and they've done a couple of engine swaps (mostly sir crx swaps) but they had a heck of time with a dx to si swap. I think it was due to the fact they dx's wiring was fried and wasn't working in the first place. So they had to convert the entire wiring harness for the car to si, which includes swaping the gauge cluster.

I don't know much about the head swap, it seems like u should b able 2 cause they're both d series engines. It sounds like a lot of work. Here's a link to the swap.

Check it out (http://www.geocities.com/c_rexboy/mpfi.html)

you can convert your dx (d15b2) to si (d16a6) by picking up:

a6 intake mani (complete)
a6 ecu
a6 fuelrail + pressure regulator
and a few others  i can't remember

i have heard people screwing their stock d15 harness by converting it and then been screwed with no stock harness. so please, consider picking up a sapre harness before you decide to get wire happy

sport compact just had a good how-to article a couple of months back. i'll search it out tonight and post up info from it tomorrow :)

Just spend the 400 to 800 $ and get you a SOCH Vtec motor from a EX and call it a day

your going to have to basicly rip your motor apart and rewire your car just to do a si swap plus hunt down and get the parts so $$ and time wise your better bet is to swap a EX motor in and then you got options for power addons lator down the road and more HP off the bat

it would be easier and CHEAPER for you to buy the whole Si motor than do the whole MPFI swap.....

its possible to swap the MPFI off of a d16z6 onto d15b2 right?

no. get d16a6. unless you plan to swap in a whole d16y8 or d16z6. because when you do MPFI you need the ecu. i learned when i did my swap you need to keep the same model distributor with the same model ecu and at that point the same intake mani. it won't idle correct if you try to use an a6 distro. with a z6 mani and say a z6 ecu. when it comes down to it....a6 parts are cheaper.

if you went the swap route all you will need is engine and then: ecu + wiring harness (or rewire 50 wires) or you can get an a6 ecu + a6 distro. + rpm activated switch.

i found my y8 for $500. at the moment i'm using my a6 intake mani, a6 distro., and a6 ecu because my y8 distro was busted in shipping :( .

Im talking use the d15b2 injectors and all electronics and just use the d16z6 intake manifold. i dont see why that wouldn't work as long as the ecu could handle the extra 2 injectors which it can. and im using the stock d15b2 distributor. what is the diff between d16a6 intake manifold and d16z6 intake manifold?

dude, what are you talking about. if the d15b2 had the correct electronics then you wouldn't need to swap out the ecu.

you can not use the d15b2 ecu with anything but the stock PGMFI set up.

you can not use the d15b2 distro with anything but the d15b2 ecu.

i just doubled checked and yes the z6 intake mani is like the a6. apparently it's just the y8 intake mani that has the differences. so on that i stand corrected.

if you plan on doing the z6/y8 swap then get those parts. but if you just plan to stay sohc non v-tec get the a6 parts.

Well, i just got finished with the MPFI swap into my 91 DX.. I DID use the intake manifold, throttle body, and a couple of sensors already on the manifold. it took a while to do becasue the wiring diagrams that i found were all wrong. luckily, i just bought a 88 CRX HF yesterday and so we just referenced the ECU pin outs with that. I dont know if its necessary, but we replaced the distributer with the one from the CRX becasue it has the cylinder position sensor. the car started but missed really really bad so we replaced the DX ECU with the CRX one and it fired right up. bad thing is now i have EF fuel mapping and a 6 grand rev limiter but i hope to change that soon.

now that the wiring is over with i can get on with the engine swap. d16z6 this weekend hehe.

hopefully i will get some pics of my new intake tomorrow.....it sounds bad ass
