The window worked fine until couple of months ago. It worked intermittently for couple of weeks and then died. I dont here any sound when I press the switch as if the window motor is not receiving power. Could it be that the motor gone bad?

the window regulator. The clips that hold the window are plastic and break over time.

just replaced the window regulator in a 99 jetta... fairly easy but lots of screws. Just wanted the cable which wore out but it comes as an assembly(minus the power motor) $60 for the thing. Fortunately the motor is fine. Also a bad battery can cause alot of misleading failures.
