Two kills for easy money

So, at the dealership I work at right now, the attached Service King is staffed by a number of ricers. Standard types that think an intake only D16 Civc will run low tens, and that a stock S13 240SX is a nine second car. Whatever.

Anyways, two of the service techs and I were standing around, talking about racing and what not, and two of the service king guys started mouthing off to us, that we don't know what fast is and our shit is slow and whatever. So I ask them what they had. One said a brand new Dodge Charger with V6 (American Legend status applies to V8s only) and the other a Honda Civc hatch (older one) with an intake and exhaust, lowering springs and a short throw. I just kinda laughed them off and started to ignore them, and it just pissed them off.

The guy with the V6 Charger started talking about how his car is just as fast as the V8 from a roll, its only a little slower from a dig, and the Honda dude is talking about how he runs 12s at the 1/4 mile track at Denton, and thats funny because the track at Denton is only an 1/8th mile. So anyways I let them talk it up a bit, and finally I ask them how confident they are that their cars could take my lowly little 325i. They said that they were real confident, and I asked for a dollar amount in confidence. Both said they would put fifty bucks down. With an evil grin I accepted, and told them to meet me after work and we could take care of the details.

They came over to my office, and we talked a bit to figure out what was gonna go down. The Dodge guy said he wanted to go from a roll, which was fine by me, and the Civic guy was talking about his drag monster hatch, so I agreed to take him from a dig. Fifty bucks each, so it would be a good weekend.

First up was the Dodge. I never asked from the area that he wanted to go, but considering he was holding a steady 40mph, I was pretty sure that was it. From the roll, I had my window down and asked how he wanted to go. He told me just to honk it down, so I agreed, and put the window up, and dropped into second. Honked three times and punched it. If it wasn't for the fact that money was on the line, I never would have even thought he punched. I clean walked him, from 40 all the way up to 110, he just fell back.

Took his money, and then the Civic guy told me to follow him to where we would run. Ended up at a service road behind the dealership, where the Dodge dude was gonna flag us down. I was fine with that, and lined up next to the Honda. I brought it up to about 2k on the tach, and killed the TC/DSC, and managed a rather nice launch off the line. In my overly pointless first gear, I barely gained a half car, so I short shifted into second, and let it pull me up to fifty. Put it into third, and by the time 90 rolled by, I was five, maybe five and a half, cars up. I let off, and took his money, and headed out to meet the 'rents for dinner. No, it wasn't my treat.

It was kinda funny, showed up for my three hour shift today, and these guys were there, and they started following me around and asking me all these racing questions and stuff, asking if they could hang out with me if I go racing again and shit like that. I thought it was kinda funny that they were acting like I was some sorta racing god or something, but I took their cell phone numbers and told them next time I went out to pick on ricers or something I would give them a call.

of course a stock S13 is a 9 second car. the 0-60 is close to 9 seconds now after almost 17 years of wear and tear. hahahah its funny how slow guys think they're fast.

Funny story. They sound like some big gamblers with those huge $50 bets too. :D

it is too bad at my job that everyone that races has a 350 in their s10 or comparable advantage

man i used to think my sentra was the shit, till i realized it cant launch unless i neutra launch it, so thats pretty bad. but then i realized my car wasnt fast when i saw a stang gt and he killed me to speed limit. so i wasnt too happy.

At this point, no. I might be in a different car in a few weeks, but nothing impressive or fast. The soonest that I would actually be getting a new car, and this is a huge huge huge maybe, depending on my financial situation at the time, would be mayish this up comming year. The thing is, with what I want in a car, my next car will most likely be a Domestic or Japanese Import. I still want an E46 M3 with the S52 10k Turbo motor, but that is a long way off.

Damn straight. Vote for me, I'll eliminate the deficit by racing rice boys for tons of cash and giving it to the budget, raise the speed limit, lower gas prices, and I'm gonna make Musashi the head of Defense Department. We will control France by the end of my third week!

It is. But it has that steptronic shifter, kinda like the red headed bastard child of the SMGII. It actually does help over leaving it in regular auto mode or sport shift mode. Not much, but when your this slow, ever little bit counts.
