So I got my grad present today... :D. Its a HP Pavilion dv5000 notebook. I am thoroughly enthused. We got it from Office Max a couple of hours ago. Its SOO much faster than my old computer! Its got a AMD Turion 64 processor (1.8mhz I believe), 1 gig of RAM, a 100 gig hard drive, DVD R/RW drive, 15.4" screen, and intergrated wireless internet. On top of that the package came with a backpack (needed it anyway, my old one smells bad and is dirty beyond cleaning) and a new printer/scanner/copier. Sweet part is it was only like $800 plus the 3 year warranty :D. Definately excited about this. Now all I need is DSMlink! ;)

Sweet ass deal man, especially with the printer combo. Laptops are the best thing ever invented. I absolutly love mine!
I got mine about a month and a half ago. It is a Dell Inspiron B130. It is 1.5 ghz, has 1 gig of RAM, a 60 gig hard drive, has a DVD +/- RW drive, 15.4" widescreen, and a wireless network card. It also has an Intel Celeron M processor.
I got mine off of ebay BRAND NEW with a one year warranty for $610. This is the best thing I have ever bought in my life. Gotta love Dell.

Oops, my bad. :)
Right now I have about 5 gigabytes of pictures, viedos, music and such on my old computer that I need to put on my laptop. Well, that is a shit ton of CD's and my old computers Cd burner is acting up anyway. So what am I doing? Setting up a network here in my house. Definately loving my creativity and knowledge (though small) of computers. I'll post back about how its going.

External hard drives are nice for that backing up and transfering that type of stuff.

I had to finally break down and spend the money on a new laptop recently. The one I got from a guy at work 4 years ago and bondoed the lid on finally shit the bed. Won't even post. Thank GOD I was able to get it to boot once to get 4-5 years worth of logs off of it!!
The new one is the cheapest new laptop I could find in stock. Best Buy had a Gateway unit for 449 brand new. I believe it is ~1.6ghz, low on RAM at 256 but I idle at about 120 after a shitload of tweaking, which is the best I can typically get out of XP without completely crippling it, but it's upgradable to 1 gig as I feel the need. 20 gig hard drive, plenty for datalogging. Built in wireless, which is new to me, and a nice upgrade. My poor wireless card got beat to shit in the car. It's also a widescreen, which I really like for DSMlink! I Can see more of the log. It also has a built in DVD player and CD burner, which I don't suspect I'll use much, but it's nice.
I have had a wireless network setup here for some time now. It's pretty handy. After racing I pull in the parking lot and upload my logs to the home PC so I can look them over in my shorts with a beer. Pretty sweet.
Just the fact that the battery last more than 30 seconds is such a huge help at the track. No worries about not getting logs, or having to boot up the laptop while I'm supposed to be staging all while hiding the laptop, etc. Man, what a relief. Worth every penny, and I should have done it years ago.
