In-dash cupholder

I have a 99 Ram 1500 and when I bought it, the in-dash cupholder was missing. Any ideas where to get an item like that(besides ebay, the dealer, and junkyards?) I'd like to try and buy it online.

Why don't you want to go to EBay? I bought a brand new one in the box for $39 shipped and the dealer wants it's weight in gold.

If I'm not mistaken, the three places you mentioned would be the only places you could hope to find one and junkyards rarely have a good one.

I do have the one I took out but it has the mechanism that held it up busted. I have been using a trash box under it to hold it for a couple years. Doesn't look bad and it worked.

If you want that one, pay shipping and it is yours. Its is tan and out of a 98. Find the right size trash bucket (mine even matches color) and most wouldn't know that it is broken.

Shipping would be from zip code 85255 and I could box it in the same box the new one came in.

Hmm....painted to match cupholders or none? Think before you talk man. Whoever said paint it was offering mearly a suggestion. If you dont like the idea just ignore it.

If the wrong color is all you can find just pick'em up and take some time and make them look factory. Its not that hard.

Kevster, welcome to AF. There's lots of good information (and good people) here, if you take the time. Keep in mind that someone else's solution may differ from yours, and there are many approaches that are acceptable to some, but not all.

I wouldn't consider painting an interior part, simply because I don't have the skills to do it so it would look right. Others do. And it's that kind of diversity that makes this community what it is.

As far as the cupholder, seems like, as always, it's a choice between paying money and paying your own sweat.

Not to seem an a$$, but you don't paint interior plastic. There is a special dye that you spray them with. It bonds with the plastic, unlike paint which will eventually peel off.

Properly done you can paint anything and have it last. Just make sure you do it right.
