Busy weekend for me!

Hoping I can find a place to press on the wheel bearings tomorrow morning, then prep the driveshaft and the rear itself for install.
Sunday it should be spinning the tires on its own. But not until the afternoon.

Looking good man and boy I can't even imagine what the car is going to click off with traction. BTW, too bad your not closer. I would let you use my shop press in the garage.

John is right....4.11's.

are you gonna race with me on street tires? if so, l guess l will get you all the way through the first gear and maybe a litt on second gear and then game over:)

I will make a guess right now Doodad. That you are never going to be in the lead. I bet he takes you right off the line to the finish line. Your car is nice though but his car is worked now and with that rear and those tires. He will take off on you. Not to mention he has 4.11 gears , a real nice ratio for 6 speed's and the 1/4.

Thing is...not sure I will have those tires when I am out in that way.
Right now, it is kinda looking like I might be driving the car out, and I might not have room for them.

The new rear end is ready to put back in the car!

Still plenty of work left, but downhill from here. All stuff I have done before now.

Almost there.

Did drive it.
E-brake doesn't work...but I know why.
Sway bar needs clamped up, but I didn't have the large clamps, I will pick them up tomorrow on my way home from work.
LCA relocation brackets need welded in. Sometime this week I hope.

Driving it was weird. You could feel the LCA's were REALLY mushy. Rear suspension was horrible.
Just a little whine from the rear, expected with the larger stronger gears and the TrueTrac diff.
Since the speedo isn't adjusted yet, it is kinda fun to watch it climb VERY quickly.

Rally Sport
07-30-2006, 09:46 PM
Give us a video of that speedo climbing quickly! be pretty funny like "Yeah this is my Trans Am.. no lie, check out how quick it gets up there!"

Mr. Luos
07-30-2006, 09:48 PM
Only took it to 4,000 RPM's.
Supposed to cool down and then it is broken in. Weird.
Probably put some miles on it though before beating it.

Then I will grab footage.

Thanks!!!

The worst part was the first hour. I had to get that bitch under the car myself. Hard to balance and move it at the same time.

I have an appointment Tuesday to get the LCA's welded in! :iceslolan

I LOVE these gears!!!

Just took it out on the highway....was at the top of 4th gear by the time I was on the highway.

Man, I was just looking at your wheel horsepower Curtis and your making like 610 - 620 horse at the flywheel when you calculate drivetrain loss. Thats insane, I didn't think you would being making that much power. I thought like 550 or so. Damn.

Mr. Luos
07-31-2006, 08:07 PM
Thanks!!!

And I think I wasn't preloading the lifters enough either for that pull.
Hard to say now...but I hope it still makes over 500 RWHP through the 9" and the gears.

FormulaLT1
07-31-2006, 08:12 PM
I know it will drop off a little cause I have seen the chevy high performance dyno tests with the different rears but I doubt it will be by that much maybe 10 horsepower or so. When your making 600 horsepower though, 10 horse aint going to break you. Man, you will still give me a hard ass run and possibly win even when I am boosting. I think I might have to add a more agressive cam or more boost or more cubes :banghead: . , eh.

Can you lift the car's nose off the ground yet or have you tried?.

Mr. Luos
07-31-2006, 08:19 PM
Haven't tried.
I am sure with the right tire it will.

Depends on if the driveshaft will hold too.
9" only has 20 miles on it so far. :icon16:

FormulaLT1
07-31-2006, 08:22 PM
That is true, you want the break in period. I wasn't think as usual :disappoin. Damn, I can't wait to see what that monster will rip up the track to now. Traction does wonders for times and you have crazy power behind it :evillol: . Good luck and I look forward to seeing the clip. BTW, just a suggestion but I would like some Rob Zombie for the background music :uhoh: . :icon16:

Oh hell ya, Rob Zombie - Never Gonna Stop Me, that would be a perfect intro... Shoot, even Feel So Numb or Dragula would be awesome

EDIT: Just thought about it... You could use the song Never Gonna stop me for the intro song. Do your intro where you have your headlights slowly flipping open, with that song starting and the girl says "You think you know me"... Just had that pictured in my head and it looked bad ass.

damn! l gotta watch that thing in real..

Stock LS1 cars run 14.4's on GOOD days. :screwy:

Erdal...3rd and 4th feel MEAN!! I still have other little things to finish up though. LCA brackets get welded on tomorrow afternoon. Supposed to be today but my girl and I ended up at the doctors to have an ultrasound done. :naughty:
But yeah...hoping Saturday will be tuning for the new pushrods and the gears!
Footage. Might not be any good...but there will be more footage.

Got the relocation brackets welded in today.
They were so far off the car sat 1" lower in the rear than it should.

Rides much better now, and the rear is centered nicely.
Went to Bandimere...but didn't race. Got there too late to get in any passes. Would have paid $30 for 1-2 passes.
