I have a 1993 Camaro Z28. The transmission has been rebuilt twice, last time was about a year and a half ago. It seems like it's failing again. Is there a common problem with the 4th generation of Camaros and their transmissions?

Sounds like an old tranny. How many miles does it have on it?
I know 93 was the only year of the 4th gens that had the 4L60 and not the
4L60E.

The car has 187,000 miles and I guess I drive it pretty hard. Sometimes it seems to take to long for the transmission to switch to a higher gear. There is also a loss of power.

Does the motor overheat often?

if its not the 4L60E, then its prolly better to buy a racing 700R4 transmission and swap that in, its cheaper than a rebuild (usually) and lasts a lot longer...

since its non electronic, right? or does the E NOT stand for electronic.. god i hate electronic transmissions. -_-

I believe with the inception of the 4th gen in 93 the trans went to the 4L60E.
