I apologize if i missed the answer to this in a different thread......

My 2000 Olds Intriuge with 98,000 on it was taken to Checker Auto..They hooked it up to their code reader and came back with a CPS fault...

I have been looking at prices to replace the CPS...but there are commonly two different kinds..one that is quite expensive and one that is a little cheaper..

What should i get....will the cheapo work as well as the more expensive one??

Thanks for your help

I agree to a certain extent, I think with something like the CPS you should definetely go OEM, but for the love of everything holy dont get it from the dealer, either get it from your local auto parts store or get it from gmpartsdirect.com

2000 : OLDSMOBILE : INTRIGUE : 3.5L 214 cubic inch V6 FI (H) : Ignition : Crankshaft Position Sensor

AIRTEX Part # 5S1871 $43.79
STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Part # PC249 $60.99
ACDELCO Part # 213454
SENSOR,CR/SHF POSN {replaces 213-373 #10456594} $62.79

$62.79 is cheap and worth the extra $15

-Notice the new part #

I paid $108 for mine from the dealer (sensor only)
from my CKP box:
acd# 213-454 (different)
gm# 10456594 (same)

Just wanted to follow up and let everyone know how things are working so far:

I bought the part from NAPA (Part #ECH CSS140) $66.99 Plus Tax

Removed the starter without problem, and located the sensor.....Sensor came out easily and went in the same.....

Car has been running great (Crossing Fingers) for a whopping three days now...Also, I have not done the learn procedure. I have been told by several mechanics that it is not necessary unless problems continue.....Still crossing fingers....

The installation and removal is an easy job, and can be done in a fairly short amount of time in your driveway, with a jack and jackstands...
