Mercedes E55 AMG

The new E55 AMG has a supercharged 5.4 liter V8 that put out 469 HP, and 516 lb-ft of torque. It is, without a doubt a screamer in anordinary E-class body. It should hold the power at the top until next year when BMW releases their new M5 with a 500 HP engine. P.

If you knew anything about AMG, they built their entire foundation on Automatic transmissions. Their newest one coming out in a couple of years will be an automatic 7-Speed transmission. Oh, and the E55 could dust almost any car on the road including a Ferrari 360 Modena and a Corvette Z06. Now who would want an M5 now?

If you think the E55 is "really just an E430" you have no idea what you are talking about.

i think an automatic transmission is better for car with over 400 hp as a manual transmission

look at bmw. you cannot drive a bmw m5 with manual transmission without shaking. only you are real professionell.
so the most people buy a m5 with automatic transmission.

Mercedes does make their own automatic transmissions, and they had already made over 11 million of those for the last 40+ years.
The 5 speed auto transmission used in the previous generation Jaguar XKR/XJR also came from Mercedes (from S600).
