At long last, I finally finished my first custom kit. Not the most perfect of jobs... lots of room for improvement.

You say there's lots of room for improvement...where?

I can't see anything wrong with it! And that wing is cool!!! :D

In particular, the signal and taillight lenses aren't done very cleanly. The black panel in between the taillights slants very slightly to the right because my masking skewed. Seats done in gloss, not matte. Paintwork has swirls in it because the polish i used was a little too coarse. Now that I look at it, I think I overdid those big-ass exhausts... shoulda made them a little more discrete. Windows coulda been done better too.

Love the Devilish Red!!

Is the wheels stock?? Any lowering done??

The wheels of 18" :D *ahem* are Blitz BRW-03 aftermarket items from HLJ. The car was lowered not once but twice because the first time I lowered it, I test fitted without the interior in place. After putting the kit together, it gained about 2mm in height, so I had to lower it yet again.

Looks good to me. I like with the wing much better. I'm the same way with models. I never think that they are good enough and friends and family end up telling me I'm nuts. I just learn from my mistakes and keep making them better every time. Keep it up! :bandit:

Nice car, needs improvement?? none that I see. Like the paint color and rims. Just one question, why is there a wing in some pics and not in the other??

WOW! Nice pics! One question, where did u get your kit from hlj? If so how long ago did u purchase it, I heard a bunch of stories about it being a turbo, and non-turbo.:):)

Turtle:

I bought the kit some months back from a hobby shop in Sydney... I've heard the confusion about the turbo/non-turbo thing... and just to clear it up there's two lumps on the engine cover in the rear. I guess that makes it a turbo.

mstngcobrasvt98:

Because I took some pics before I attached the wing. I kinda liked the clean-cut look as well, so I figured I'd snap a few before the wing went on.

Yes if it has the RAISED ENGINE COVER VENTS, then it's a turbo model
other wise it's not..

Fujimi made 2 different molds in that style (94+ round tail lights).
One is NON TURBO, HARDTOP MODEL, this is from the initial D molds.
And the other is TURBO T-TOP MODEL.

thats as much as i know... i got a turbo model in one kit from a store locally.. .then i ordered the EXACT same kit from HLJ and i got the initial D mold instead... so who knows what you'll get when you order cuz fujimi is sticking whatever in there :)

i think the only differences in the different series are the stickers..
