Start off easy with an the usual I/H/E. Having the LX motor as opposed to the SI is a just a bit tougher to make fast. But working on how the car breaths is a good start. Think about the looks of your car rather then how it performs on the track. You do not have a fast car so making it compete on the track will be very tough. Try to focus your attention on such things as lowering it, rims, hoods/trunks, body kits. You will get more respect on a clean car then a car trying to play catch up on the track. Good luck! Also check out www.8thgencivic.com you will find your community there.

The way Honda setup the new Civic you’ll be wasting your time and money trying to make your LX faster. The Si is the only one that Honda setup to be mod-ible.

You can’t change the header on a 2006 Civic LX, it’s part of the head.

Like I said moding a non Si Civic is a waste of time and money.

Also, keep in mind that doing certian mods to your car could void any manufacturer or dealer warranty that you may have on your car. Read the fine print of your car's paperwork before doing ANY work to make sure it's allowed.

Geez the LX is still crap with the header. I would have figured they would have changed that on the 8th gen cause the 7th gen lx sucked when upgrading. Guess the same applys thanks for the info!!

DX LX EX are all like that. The Si is the only one that has a header you can change.

And Honda is never going to change this stuff because the DX LX and EX are economy cars not sports cars. Honda is not going to change stuff for people to cheap to buy the Si.

Smarts words I have said many of times in this forum.

Hmm, this is interesting stuff. Bummer about the header issue, just bought an EX two weeks ago. Reads like I maybe looking for a crashed civic in the Junkyard to experiment with. I'd like to try band sawing off the old manifold and then milling it down to get a good place to mate a header to it..maybe a custom header?
Talk about demand for a performance package...new head, header and turbo for us SOHC guys.
Wonder how many people would be interested once their standard warranty is up AND how hard it is to swap the head.

I’d say no one because your taking about spending $5000 and still not have a car as good as the Si. It’s a SOHC 1.8L engine even with a turbo there is only so much power your going to get out of it.

okay since everyone else is being a jerk about it, ill tell you what you can slap in...
I would start out with new spark plugs you can buy an entire system or i use Iridiums there 7+ a plug, but they have a much harder spark and dont need to be gapped. just be carefull you dont get to strong a spark or you'll burn holes in the top of your pistons

second-go for a cold air intake and a performance exhaust...dont go for noise, go for what lets the most exhaust through the fastests. glasspacks are good for that.
third-get a superchip a 3 stage willl run you about 500-1000 including install.

fourth-try and lighten the car..alloy rims are good and less metal is better

fifth- new pulleys will make your car accelerate much faster....

sixth- this ones really iffy...if you felt really bold you maight be able to bore out the cylinders a little. squeeze a little bit more space for combustion in there.

finally-you could consider a bolt-on Nos system. but use it sparingly your engines not made to handle it.

good luck and dont listen to everyone else! you're not gonna be punch 200 but you might squeeze 160+ out of it.

Why would you waste your time and money doing all that? By the time you are done you could have just gone out and bought an Audi or Benz or something cool

You have no clue what you're talking about.

Spark plugs don't add power, they help ensure you make power. The Honda recommended plugs are more than enough for simple bolt-ons. And NO you're not going to burn a hole in your pistons from "better" spark plugs, that's retarded.

What kind of "superchip" are you talking about? Unless you're talking about a good engine management system that will be tuned on the dyno, that is a complete waste of money & WAY too expensive for a few horsepower.

Those unbalanced aftermarket pulleys are garbage; which are most of the pulleys sold. They may help free up some power, but they can (and likely will eventually) throw off your rotation assembly. My friend had an Unorthodox Racing pulley on his H22A. It threw off his crankshaft, which then screwed up his oil pump, and starved it from oil. People don't realize those things aren't ment for daily driven cars, they're meant for track cars. Cars that need as much of an edge as possible and have their engines torn apart and rebuilt at least a couple times a season.

Bore out the cylinders? Do you know anything about the new Civic engines? Their cylinders are OVAL, not perfectly round like the new Si or older Honda engines.

I don't think nitrous is a very good idea either, without being properly tuned.

Everything else I do agree with. Intake, exhaust, and losing weight where possible.
