Need some input please. I'm looking at purchasing a '98 Accord LX fully loaded from a co-worker for my daughter (turning 16). The car has 160,000 miles on it now. I know the guy and he is the only owner and has all maintance records and the car is in excellent condition. He had a brand new Honda trans installed @ 130,000 miles(still has some warranty on it). Engine uses no oil. the car is clean, clean, clean. He wants $5000.00 for it.

Is this a good price ? Does this vehicle have a lot of life left to it? I mean is it gonna start nickle and diming me? Anything specific I should watch out for.

thank you
Jim

Its hard to make a general assumption about the condition and stability of the car without seeing/hearing/feeling it. As everyone knows, Hondas are very reliable, my dad's 89 accord ran to 250k+ with only one clutch replacement and a few minor things.

What to watch for? I would tell you to watch for the transmission since they were kinda twitchy from the early 6th gens, but if it only has 30k on it, there shoul be no problems. Pay close atention to suspension components, that seems to be a common problem area on the 6th gen accords.

The price is decent if the car is in excellent condition as you say
