I had a similar problem a few oil changes ago, came to find out the filter wasn't screwed on tight enough and there was oil leaking out around the filter.
I haven't had the problem since. but there is really no telling what problem you might be having, you might need some new piston rings.
or a complete rebuild for that matter.

well its not from the oil filter i can tell you that cuase i change my oil every 2000 miles and i make sure its tight. however i do see smoke coming out of the engine bay and the wheel well. but i dont' see any smoke coming out of my tail pipes. it could be anything. but i just want know if that really hurts my performance?

check your valve cover gaskets, they may be leaking oil onto your exhaust manifold or something which would cause the smell. when you checked your oil, was it low as well, or just dirty?

It will hurt your performance when your engine blows completely to hell because it doesn't have any oil left in it......:(

check your exaust maniold, your valve cover(s) the seals around your intake manifold, also, is there water in the oil? Or oil in the water in the radiator? Do you spill when you do your oil change?

radiator is clean. my oil level barely drops if not droped at all after 3000 miles. however i do have a leak in my valve cover gasket. but its not a big leak.

You will see blue smoke out of the exhaust if your engine was burning oil. It has to be leaking out somewhere and getting on the engine.

sooo you figured its a external leak. but then why does my oil turn black sooo fast?

ever thought about doing an SR-20B motor swap? I don't know where you live, but there are plenty of places in southern Cali that can do that swap.:smoker2:

that swap is on my todo list. i live in nyc. there are a few places in the east coast that can do the swap too. but they're pretty far away as well.

Yeah, that is a good question. Could it be a blown head gasket? I'll ask around.

May I suggest a compression test and possibly an oil analysis?
Good luck

thats a good idea
but we do have its external, and if you have even a minor leak from your valve seal, then yes that does explain the smoke
Second, check your filter, and intake up to the manifold, if your getting unfiltered air, your going to get dirty fast
also do you do alot of 100mph+ driving, or do alot of driving as your cars hot? This would lead to oil darkening due to thermal breakdown

might help, also what brand of oil, and weight do you use?
Some brands just plain suck, and 100mph+ driving will make it darken quicker.
