05-06 stang GT vs. 05-06 GTO. (STOCK for STOCK)??

guys, l own a stock 06 stang GT and l believe 05-06 GTOs are faster than us and they car beat us on the street and on the track. but these people say it is drivers race.. or even race.

what do you guys think? honestly!!! am l wrong or right? (assume both drivers are decent)

I would put my money on the GTO's.

Eh, it's only a drivers race if the GTO messes up. I only have times for the stock '05 models of the cars but the GTO beats it by half a second.

'05 GTO runs the 1/4 in 13.0seconds
'05 Stang GT runs the 1/4 in 13.5 seconds.

One thing you will soon learn or should soon learn Erdal, the truth hurts but also doesn't always need to be shared. Most forums are filled with people that want to pat each other on the back and praise each other for making such a smart choice of what auto to represent themselves with. Even if deep down hidden in a secret room they know what your telling them is the truth (which they do), they don't want to hear it or think about it. I know there are plenty of cars out there stock for stock that will beat our cars or even mod for mod will probably beat us. There is always going to be something bigger or better out there and thats a for certain. While GTO's and Mustangs appeal to two different markets, yes the GTO is without doubt the more powerful auto and will beat the stang with the same skill driver in my opinion but its not a slaughter by any means, so why push those guys buttons and make them dislike you by beating them over the head with facts or commen sense knowledge. Just go in there to support each other in enjoying the cars you have and not making note of what might be better in anyway. All you're do with that is making them dislike you.

Damn, thats a faster time than I seen in most publications for both cars. Most GTO's I see are around 13.2 - 13.3 and most mags claim the mustang to be 13.7 - 13.9.

Well they even quote the source. So I guess Road & Track and Car & Driver need to start taking lessons from the Motortrend boys on how to drive cause damn thats a pretty big difference right there. Wow, pretty soon we are going to be seeing stock 10 second street sedans and coupes if this pace keeps up.

Hiflow and Gtstang from the mustang forum here are pretty good guys and I talk to GTstang pretty regularly (infact just today), sure we bust each other's balls about driving a stang or a f-body but there is a mutual respect but I wouldn't hold it against him for making the off comment when the Stang boys are around that F-bodys suck and Mystangs rule. Just like I don't think he would be aiming for my sack if I make the off hand comment about how mustang owners should upgrade to a F-body. It's human nature and as most people say, be happy with what god (satan in your case 666) gave you . If they want to have a circle jerk on a "mustang" forum. To praise there and your car. Let it be. There are plenty of GTO's out there to make them accept reality. Its not your job.

:), l didnt say all fbody guys are good or all stang guys are jerk.. most of the stang guys that l have talked on forum web sites sounded like jer to me.. some of the were really cool.

l have been on f-body web sites almost over a year and l have seen just a few bastard fbody owner.. l almost ever argued on fbody web sites.. but stang web sites, everyday l fight with someone..

uhhh. GTO... if the new stangs can barely or not beat a ls1 maro, theres no way your beating a ls2 powered gto. It seems like everyone i talk to thinks GTOs are kinda slow... hmm i guess its cuz they look so plain

what do you expect? 300hp at the flywheels dyno would put down 290rwhp?

Some people are unaware of alot of stats and I think if you read Fthemans post again with a clear head. this is the only problem with internet post things, if someone is NOT trying to be mean sometimes it comes off that way to others because the way it is typed. trans am> new stang GT> camaro> GTOIt's fine. You have to defend your car every now and then. But you have a good reason why you got the Mustang and not the Trans Am. But you love it and want to defend it anyway, which is good.

Yeah, I agree with you on the BS flag thing. I read Musashi (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/member.php?u=196670) stories every now and then about his GTO. He raced a Mustang and beat it, so them saying it's slower has to be wrong because he's a pretty good driver.

But if you want to get into looks:
Camaro> Trans AM> GTO> Mustang

And if you want to get technical:
69 Camaro > 67 Shelby Mustang GT 500 > 00 Trans Am WS.6 > 97 Camaro SS > 06 GTO > 06 Mustang

I love the looks of the new stang but I love the looks of LS1 WS6 Trans AM more. I haven't yet formed a opinion on the Camaro concept car yet in relation to the others but your right. Ftheman 69 Camaro's were kick ass style wise and performance was not too shabby either.

dude you should see me on mustangforums. l argue everyday.. l justb cant handle when people say to fast car that they are slow. for exaple, l told them that fbodies will beat us all day long (LS1) they got crazy and they said no way..l l told him 98-00 LS1 fbody put down 290-300rwhp and 01-02 puts down 310-315rwhp and they run flat 13s or very low 13s.. but they still dont get it. they know they are faster but they dont wanna say that.. dude l love my new mustang but l know thta thing is not as fast but thehy think they got one freaking fast car.:)

Agree with you Doodad, leave it alone and no point in arguing what they will soon find out or already know from the street. Just because another car is slightly faster, Who cares. They are both nice cars and if they like them and are happy with it and thinks its fast. Let them keep on believing saying or believing that there car will beat everything out there. Its not hurting anyone.
