Well I finally got back into my models again and I have had an itch to put a K20 in SOMETHING ever since the RSX kit came out. I finally decided on an EK hb for my first k20 swap but I will probably be doin many more in the future:naughty: . The body will stay pretty stock other than the front bumper I opened up to fit the FMIC for the turbo, the engine bay (as usual) is where most of the detail is. I am not trying to go crazy on this one I just really want it built already so I am rushing a bit. I have only messed with it for a few nights in a row now and feel like I am a 1/3- 1/2 way done. I am painting it Tamiya silverleaf and have not decided on wheels yet, I will post more progress soon. any thoughts and opinions are welcome!!

Cool. Looks like an interesting project. Love the look of the custom turbo... although it looks like the air filter piping is a little bent out of shape just near the turbo... could just be the pic though... keep it up. Can't wait to see it finished.

Kool, nice scratchbuilding! You might wanna relocate that battery, you're gonna melt right through it touching the header like that. Scale battery acid all over the work bench! LOL...

I need to get the RSX, I'll probably try and cast the motor so i can stick a few of them in anything I want without having to go buy more kits... or is that the point with kit bashing? :naughty:

Nice work so far, turbo looks great. But shouldn't be the engine the other way around? i mean with the turbo in front and the intake in the back

i hope you can understand me

Sorry to be the n00b but who makes the RSX kit which includes the engine? I want to make a model of my car and would like to include the engine if possible (I have a civic si)

I think correct me if im wrong guys, In an intgera DC2 the turbo would be in front, but not in an rsx. The headers are in the front, intake manifold in the back of the motor i believe.

i recently did this swap, it is impossible to make the hood fit shug unless the car sits extremly high in the front. i just cut the oil pan off so it would sit lower.

No you are wrong, the K-series as to fit the same way in any other car that it fits in the RSX, otherwise you would have 6 reverse gears and 1 forward gear!!?? This is the way you HAVE to install the K in any Honda.

i recently did this swap, it is impossible to make the hood fit snug unless the car sits extremly high in the front. i just cut the oil pan off so it would sit lower.

I already test fitted everything and the hood fits fine with the car still sitting low, just how I like it. the one thing you have to remember is how the K installs in the 1:1 car you are trying to replicate, the p.s. pump must be removed and the idler pulley and alt are relocated to make room for hood clearance, it's the same for the 1/25 scale.........notice how the p.s. pump is gone? you can't see from these pics but I already have the alt mocked up with the proper belt routing for the proper fitment. I will post pics of that soon

wow. Nice details, did you make the header out of styrene rods? How do you bent them? Warm water or hair dryer?

I used styrene yes but I used a lighter to heat them, the warm water and hair dryer don't work as well and fast for me.

yeah it's not straight yet but it is just there for fitment reasons, this whole setup is just mocked up to make sure everything else fits right before final detail and paint. I may even run a ram air style intake to the hood so that is why the pipe is crooked right now I just am not sure yet.
