clunking in front suspension

99-Rodeo LS,V6, 4WD, 61k miles. When I begin to move I get a shudder (clunking, I feel it in the sterring column also) noise in the front end. It feels like the 4-W drive is partial engaged but it clears up as soon as I start moving. I am running in 2-W so I am not sure what to look for.
Any suggestions where to start?

Ok, This post hase been here a few days and although read by numerous folks, no response. I have looked thoughout the forum but do not see anything about this. What have I done wrong here?
I get the shimmy/shake in driver front when I first take off. I can feel it in the steering also. It clears quickly though as soon as I hit about 3 miles an hour. Any help out there?

It's not that anyone's choosing not to answer, trust me, there's VERY very helpful people here - it's probably just that no one's experienced your exact symptoms.
I have a 4x2 Rodeo, so bear with me, I'm just gonna throw out a couple things to look at on the drivers tire/wheel - wheel bearings, stuck/sticking caliper, bad tire (bulge or out of round), bad shock, loose CV joint or ball joint, tie-rod, warped rotor, warped wheel, etc.
Could be as simple as something stuck between the wheel and caliper.
My Rodeo came with the steel wheels and I know at least 2-3 times every year, something would get caught between the wheel and caliper - don't know why, but it would make a god-awful sound. Don't remember the steering wheel shaking because of it, but it is possible.
Personally, I'd crank up that side of the truck, take that tire off, and look around for worn out parts, if all steering/suspension parts look ok, take a look at the tire and rim itself.
Good luck, and keep us posted with results/solutions so the next guy who may experience this same issue has info to resort too.
