F*CK LIMP MODE - I Finallly am asking for help on this

Well ive kinda avoided actually making a new thread and asking for help but here it goes.....I need help finding out why my car is in F*cken "Limp Mode" or whatever where there is a transmission problem(ATX) and its locked into 2/3rd gear only and park and reverse - -its slow as old people fuck- off the line and above 25 its ok then at like 70- above it starts to shake a bit - anyways there is an exhaust leak and i know thats not the problem but i was pointing it out.. and then the check engine light is also on- Its possible its the TCU but i really have no idea- Ive tried everything like the volt meter and paper clip method to pull the codes but it just wont work- i would go to get the codes pulled or have it looked at -but im dead broke- i want to try and pinpoint the exact problem so that i dont have to buy/try a million things before its right

I cant stand driving it in limp mode anymore its driving me nuts- thanks alot for anyone who can help-

I'd say its probably the TCU. And for the time being its in safe mode.

Auto I'm assuming? It could be the TCU, it could be the end clutch. Could be a few things. But I honestly think you should be trying to pull the codes again. Because if you have a CEL, and you havn't pulled hte codes, us throwing out ideas is worthless. CEL probably wont tell your problem, because it doesn't deal with the tranny, but regardless. If puling hte codes aint working right, 99% of the time, the problem is you are doing something wrong.

i agree i almost know im doing something wrong ...i just cant figure it out... where can i get codes pulled for FREE ?!!

Im not worried about the CEL im worried about the freakin accel on my car--its the slowest thing ever- i just want that fizixed!!!

Autozone generally only does OBDII cars, so 96+, you could try, but it's doubtful.

Seriously, I understand your annoyance with this, but IMO, and I seriously mean this, the CEL comes on for a reason, and it bothers me to no end when people complain about a problem, related or not, and wont pull their codes. The codes are giving you additional information, and we are trying to help you over the internet. Info is all we get, the more the better.

The link is on Stealth316.com, it shows how to pull the codes and decipher them. If you can't do it, either buy a datalogger or pay someone who can.

sportsB. i just looked at your profile, and since you're in michigan, i know there are a bunch of 3si people in your state. if you're still having trouble pulling the code, i would ask on 3si in the local/region sub-forum to find someone in your area who has a datalogger so you can pull the codes.

also, this experience should make you want to get a datalogger. granted, as you said, you're tight on money right now. but a month or so down the road, you should seriously get a datalogger. do a search for it, there are a few threads. and if you have any datalogging questions, send me a PM.

a datalogger would give you the codes in about 30 secs and its very simple.

um not sure what you mean? its an automatic - i can put it in nuetral and rev all the way up and i can drive in D 3 or L - but it just wont go past like 2k rpms at first then liek 2.5k then like 3k and 3.5k/3.8k is probally the most
